Cost Accountants process large amounts of expense information through bookkeeping software, financial documents and industry research. They study the market to produce cost standards for such as salaries, materials and shipping, then compare actual company expenditures to these standards. Cost Accountants compile information into weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports and perform cost-benefit analysis on the business's key expenses. They also conduct valuations on inventory and company assets, monitoring variation in value and cost over time.

- Looking for someone who has the in depth & hands on knowledge of the Bill of Material (BoM), standard costing, FIFO and inventory management, Designing and implementing cost accounting systems, Developing cost standards for materials and labor.

- Analyzes, examines, and interprets accounting data, records and reports to determine past costs, identify improperly recorded costs, and reallocates the cost to ensure they are recorded in the appropriate cost structure.

- Using appropriate costing methodologies, develop or improve upon existing cost accounting data to provide accurate and timely financial information that will satisfy informational requirements.

- Analyze data and changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs obtained and record results.

- Prepare reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs and assist Operations in explanations of variances.

- Overseeing annual physical inventory, Performing life cycle cost-benefit analysis

- Analyzing manufacturing operations, equipment availability and utilization

- Performing month-end cost accounting close, preparing all inventory-related journal entries at month end, Maintaining cost accounting system and cost ledger

- Implementing cost standards for materials and labor, preparing cost of goods sold and production reports, and Analyzing inventory valuations & Monitoring unit cost variance

- Reconciling beginning raw materials, work-in-progress and finished-goods stock

- Defining various product and operational costs, setting standard costs of manufactured goods Analyzing manufacturing operations, equipment availability and utilization

- Performing life cycle cost-benefit analysis

Requirements

- The ideal Cost Accountant will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. Other requirements for the Cost Accountant role include and are not limited to:

- Certified Management Accountant (CMA) / Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) preferred

- Minimum 5+ years Standard Costing experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.

- Oracle and Hyperion preferred

- Solid cost systems background & US GAAP Experience.

- Strong Microsoft Office skills, Advanced Excel
