Job Overview:
The content acquisition team is responsible for licensing and managing content for subscribers across the country including new businesses. The role involves studying the geography and acquiring the content from various sources or vendors so as to channel it across to subscribers via telecom services or mobile apps.
We are seeking an experienced professional proficient in content licensing, Content acquisition and content partnering with other providers and who is forward-thinking, analytical and motivated to assist in all facets of content distribution and entertainment business, including strategic development, advanced advertising, rights management, partner management, vendor management and marketing/promotions.
Core Responsibilities :
- Lead deal negotiations for the acquiring content from other providers / vendors /sources based on the study and demand of the geography.
- Structure programming deals including various business models (transactional, revenue sharing, subscription, license fee)
- Develop term sheets and assist in negotiating rights for distribution of programming content across product suite.
- Provide analysis of existing business practices and emerging trends in key on-demand categories such as film, sports, news, music, religious, astro and children's content etc.
- Assist in the development of our advertising platforms and manage our adverting rights portfolio.
- Understand and lead projects to raise internal awareness regarding emerging technologies, user behavior trends and alternative distribution platforms/ecosystems (e.g. Amazon, Google)
- Develop relationships with programmer counterparts (e.g. Disney, Fox) and partners (e.g. Canoe, iNDEMAND) as well as with internal organizations such as operations, legal, ad sales, marketing and technical teams.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
Tasks :
- Oversees the research, evaluation, and acquisition of new programming and associated services. Targets potential acquisitions and prepares recommendations and strategies.
- Implements the specifications and features for new programming and ensures adherence to programming standards and policies.
- Meets with various producers and packagers to hear pitches and manages full process of standard contract negotiations.
- Manages programming budgets and collaborates with Accounting and Finance to discuss accounting implications of network activities.
- Utilizes key metrics to coordinate a formal evaluation process of new programming acquisitions.
- Conducts standard and complex negotiations.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Assist the sales and business development teams to expand over the content business in various geographies and telco units.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills :
- Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
- Excellent Communication and negotiation skills
- Generally requires 5+ years related experience
- Substantial experience in strategy, negotiations, media consulting, and contract administration
- Effective communication, organization and leadership skills a must
- Strong computer skills (e.g. PowerPoint) and modeling (e.g. Excel)
- Studio, Network, MVPD and/or Advertising experience is a plus
