Compliance Officer
JOB PURPOSE
(Briefly describe the general purpose of the position or its significance from the organisation's point of view and how it contributes to the overall mission/objective of the organization).
Compliance Officers has to promote ethical conduct and compliance with rules, regulations and standard processes that govern how the DCM team should conduct business. This applies to how financial transactions and trades are handled, how client accounts are maintained and processed and how the team operates as a business. The role requires actively staying on top of the latest laws, regulations and business trends and being able to translate these into requirements for the operation of the organization.
The candidate should have a deep understanding of the rules, regulations and processes relevant to the subscription, sales and trading of fixed income securities along with aspects of merchant banking compliances. The candidate should possess strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Accountabilities
Major Activities
Business Monitoring
a)To monitor the business to ensure it is operating according to applicable -:
regulatory requirements, (SEBI Regulations, DIP Guidelines, Companies Act etc.)
Internal policies and Standard Operating Processes
Providing regulatory advice and guidance regarding regulations and internal polices
Works closely with DCM team to provide analysis and a resolution on compliance matters
Tracks/documents compliance projects, registration requirements and compliance affirmations
Reporting
Preparing and maintaining a robust reporting and monitoring framework in line with external (SEBI, RBI etc.) and internal requirements
Reporting non-compliance issues to management & risk committees
Directing / Escalating compliance issues to appropriate resources for investigation
Liaisoning & Networking
Networking with other compliance officers in the industry in order to stay current with regulatory issues and leading practices.
Build a strong rapport with SEBI and other governing bodies including active engagement for requisite clarifications and approvals from time to time
Coordinating for enquiries and examinations
Conducts on-going surveillance, reviews and testing and maintains proper documentation of all reviews
Conducts/Coordinates internal and external (SEBI) audits, including follow-up actions
Assists with the coordination of inspections with various government and regulatory organizations
Researches and responds to regulatory inquiries, as necessary
Formulating/Updation of Internal policies
Identify possible areas of compliance risk and develop action plans for resolution
Drafting and implementing new policies and procedures and update existing policies and procedures
Providing advice on new business and product proposals (CTR) to identify and address compliance and regulatory risk
Training & Development
To develop and deliver training programs to increase understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance policies and ethical conduct within business lines
Ensuring active involvement of DCM in the development and maintenance of comprehensive written supervisory procedures by providing guidance
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Educational Qualifications and Experience
- MBA / CA/CS/LLB
- Minimum of 5+ years experience in fixed income compliance & operations
Functional Skills
- Networking skills with industry counterparts and also existing relations with regulators (SEBI, RBI)
- A good exposure to the product areas (including Corporate DCM, Financial Institutions DCM, Bond Syndication, Debt Advisory, Loan Markets, Secondary Loan Syndicate)
Other Skills- Communication/ Managerial
- Adherence to timelines and proactive attention to detail
- Strong communication and presentation skills including ability to make effective pitches in internal decision groups.
- Proactively managing all issues and bottlenecks to meet all timelines.
- Multi tasking across mandates and various stages of deal
- Ability to work both independently and in a team envi
