Manager - Payroll

Overall Purpose of the Role:
To provide end to end payroll processing and advice with primary responsibility for the healthcare sector and the mobilisation/transition of new sites.
Primary Objective
- To pay Compass Group NZ employees accurately in accordance with the company's employment agreement with the employee.
- To ensure the correct recording of Compass Group contractual and legal obligations to the employee.
- To provide Payroll advice and support to ensure all employees receive accurate and timely payroll services.
- To work as part of an effective team to ensure an efficient and competent function of the Compass Group payroll service as a unit.
New Starter Set Up:
- Data entry set up of all of all new employees
- Ensuring compliance with new starter document procedures and key financial control requirements. Providing support to manager to meet requirements accordingly.
- Checking vulnerable employee data including but not limited to 52 week UDA information, annual leave, sick leave and special leave balances either manually or automatically entering data into the Payglobal system.
Payroll Management:
- Working constructively in a team with members of the Payroll team to ensure a high standard of support service is provided
- Identifying potential risk areas or employee issues to the Payroll Manager, providing appropriate
Payroll Services:
- Setting up and maintaining accurate employee records
- Processing the weekly/fortnightly payroll from timesheets/electronic file
- Attending to all employee payroll enquires in a timely manner
- Providing advice and support to Compass Group managers and support staff
- Completion, submitting and balancing of IRD files to be uploaded to IRD website within timeframes
- Collating and coordinating the distribution of payroll costing information to management
- Preparing payslips for distribution to employees
- Ensuring compliance with Compass Group procedures, policy and relevant legislation
- Assisting in the processing of applications on behalf of employees as required (ie; ACC claims, parental leave applications, WINZ and Housing NZ requests etc)
- Maintaining confidentiality of employee documentation
- Providing HR with information/data as requested
- Filing of paperwork
- Completing related payroll statutory returns
Special Project Work:
- Participating in special projects and reporting as directed by the Payroll Manager by contributing to initiatives and providing advice that meets policy and standards
