CodeChef - Tech Marketing/Strategy

Urgently looking for a technology passionate, street smart individual as Head Chef - CodeChef (http://www.codechef.com/ )... (Reports to CEO Bhavin Turakhia)

What is the Job like?

Codechef is one the world's leading programming contest websites. We host coding contests and events
for programmers around the world. Our mission is to provide programmers everywhere a platform to meet, interact, and bond over algorithms and data structures. Our eventual aim to be the largest programming community globally. Codechef is a not-for-profit business incubated by Directi, one of India's leading product software companies.

Codechef has 100s of college chapters, 10s of thousands of members, and a very active user community.
Codechef also powers programs such as Go for Gold which is a first of its kind initiative to help an Indian
team win the ACM ICPC programming contest. Codechef is a very visible business within Directi with
significant resources devoted to it and overseen personally by Bhavin Turakhia, Founder and CEO at
Directi who is a passionate coder himself.

We are looking for a Head Chef for Codechef. This is a senior position that will have the responsibility to contribute to and manage the Codechef vision and strategy and reports to the CEO of Directi.

- This is a fantastic opportunity for you to be a part of a larger vision to lead and drive a large international community and be responsible for the strategy, marketing, product management in a role that gives you unparalleled visibility, freedom, and the opportunity to make a difference.

More specifically, this position requires you to:

- Own the entire P&L for Codechef and its various teams and activities

- Manage and drive all the digital and traditional marketing activities for Codechef such as SEO, SEM,
Display Advertising, Social Media, Events, Meet-ups, PR, and much more

- Accelerate the acquisition of new users/programmers on the Codechef platform

- Introduce innovative programs and concepts to continuously engage with Codechef's community of programmers; in addition you will drive new products, content, and direction for the Codechef website to attract and retain users

- Manage all the day-to-day operational aspects of Codechef including running contests, sourcing
problems, and more

- Work extensively with the Codechef technology team to roll out new and innovative contests and
events for the community

- Be the spokesperson for Codechef across various media channels

- Manage the Directi Go for Gold program and help India win the ACM ICPC championships

- Develop relationships with top-tier educational institutions across the country and internationally to
evangelize Codechef and its platform

You should apply for this post if

- You have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science/IT) or a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology

- You are passionate about coding, software engineering, data structures, O(NlogN) algorithms, and NP complete problems

- You have an MBA from a Tier 1 B-school

- You have 3-6 years of experience building technology products, or working in technology marketing, or in sales for a product software company

- You are done with the mundane grind and want to build a global community and are excited by Codechef's vision

- You communicate with flair in the written and in the oral; you are equally at ease addressing a large gathering, writing a great blog post, or working with the print media

- You are logical and numerically sound

- You love the Internet and have an opinion on various topics ranging from Net Neutrality to the rise of the '+1'
