Role :
- The GM/AVP Corporate Development & Strategy will report to the CEO and play a key role in the execution of CMS's growth strategies. This highly visible position will be filled by an individual with exceptional drive and energy, demonstrating strong Strategic, Financial and Analytical skills, has experience working on Mergers and Acquisitions (including financial modeling and due diligence), possesses strong project management skills and highly effective verbal and written communications skills.
Responsibilities will amongst other things include :
Strategy Work :
- Works closely with the CEO & CFO in developing CMS's plans for inorganic strategic growth and creating templates for assessing business development opportunities
Business Development Strategy work :
- Works closely with the CEO and CFO in developing plans for strategic growth, corporate collaborations, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and development of strategic alliances
- Identify industry trends and growth opportunities that might impact CMS; identify strategic gaps in market and researching opportunities to address gaps that can drive M&A activity
- Develop business cases for projects to accelerate revenue growth and valuation
- Participate in lead negotiations for prospect and partner deals
- Drive Strategic initiatives and projects, which could include new market strategy, strategic partnerships, and potential investments.
- Responsible for acquisition strategy and execution in conjunction with our development leaders
- Own all aspects of acquisitions, including sourcing, qualification, initial rationale/pitch, financial modeling, due diligence, closing and integration activities
- Develop business and strategic plans for current and future opportunities- evaluate resources, level of effort and partners and/ or dependencies required for successful execution
Financial Analysis :
- Develop the financial models that support the assessment and underlying valuation of acquisition opportunities
- Develop robust, investment grade business case modeling for new projects which include: projected revenue, financial model, five year strategic plan, identified resources and requirements needed to execute and the go-to-market strategy
- Create and maintain - What-if modeling for acquisitions, new ventures, existing ventures
- Strong analytical skills, fluency in performing rigorous financials, valuation and broad quantitative analyses Board & Investor Communications
- Work closely with the CEO and CFO to construct communication strategies with board and Shareholders
- Work closely with the CEO and CFO to compile Board of Director meeting booklets and communication to shareholders
- Effective Management of high performing team to provide excellence in the delivery of the Strategic, Corporate Development and Financial Analyses requirements of this department
- Capable of building, managing, leading and mentoring an exceptional team by providing an open, collaborative transparent style of management
Experience and Background :
- Business degree from a Premier Institute preferred with at least 10-12 years of relevant business experience in a service industry with 5 or more years of experience in M&A
Experience :
- 5+ years in strategic planning, management consulting, business & financial analysis
- Must have spent significant time developing corporate level strategies
- Must have completed a significant amount of business case development
- Must have significant experience building complex business models
- Extensive knowledge of the logistics industry preferred
- Familiarity with e-commerce strongly preferred
- Global company experience
- Some international travel required
- Private equity experience required
