Job Summary:
The Category Manager will be responsible for overseeing the product category's performance, implementing strategic business plans, optimizing sales, and ensuring effective category management. The role involves working closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and key accounts to drive business growth, enhance product visibility, and improve market share. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, negotiation capabilities, and experience in modern trade, distribution management, and key account handling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Category Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement category strategies to achieve sales, profitability, and market share targets. Conduct periodic category reviews to optimize performance.
- Product & Market Analysis: Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and consumer behavior studies to identify trends, opportunities, and gaps within the category.
- Supplier & Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure the timely availability of stock.
- Pricing & Promotions: Develop pricing strategies based on market trends, cost structures, and competitive positioning. Plan and execute promotional campaigns to drive sales growth.
- Key Account Management: Work closely with modern trade partners, retailers, and distributors to enhance category visibility and drive sales in key accounts.
- Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure optimal stock levels, minimize wastage, and enhance product availability.
- Sales Performance & Reporting: Monitor and analyze category sales performance, generate reports, and recommend action plans to enhance revenue and profitability.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, marketing, and procurement teams to align category goals with overall business objectives.
- Retail Execution & Merchandising: Ensure product placement, shelf space optimization, and adherence to planograms in retail outlets.
Key Requirements:
- Education: MBA in Sales, Marketing, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in category management, modern trade, key account handling, or
ales & marketing in the FMCG, retail, or commodity trading sector.
- Skills:
o Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
o Excellent negotiation and vendor management abilities.
o Experience in market research, category planning, and promotional strategy. o Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or other data visualization tools. o Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
o Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred Background: Experience working with major retailers, distributors, or in the FMCG/commodity trading industry.
