Citrin Cooperman - Senior Associate - Real Estate Tax

Responsibilities:

Real Estate Tax Expertise:

- Assist clients with life cycle events for partnerships (Form 1065), including formations, mergers, and initial public offerings.

- Handle complex computations related to inside and outside basis, Section 704(c), Section 743(b), and Schedule K-1 processing.

- Advise clients on a variety of tax issues specific to the real estate industry, including REIT qualification and the impact of tax reform on pass-through entities.

Tax Preparation & Compliance:

- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for real estate clients.

- Conduct independent tax research to resolve complex issues and ensure accurate client filings.

Teamwork & Communication:

- Collaborate effectively with team members of all levels to ensure timely completion of projects.

- Train and develop junior team members, fostering a supportive learning environment.

- Maintain clear communication with clients, addressing their needs and exceeding expectations.

- Build strong working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and US counterparts.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in US taxation with a focus on real estate.

- Proven track record of handling complex real estate tax issues and calculations.

- Possession of a professional designation (CA, CPA (US), EA, MBA, or Masters) is required.

- In-depth knowledge of US tax laws and regulations as they relate to real estate.

- Proficiency in tax software (CCH Axcess Tax) and familiarity with document management systems (Gofileroom) and working paper applications (Caseware) is a plus.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.

- Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
