Cipla - Head - Corporate Strategy - IIM/MDI/ISB/FMS

Job Purpose

Cipla has put an aggressive 2022 goal of doubling revenues and tripling profits. The Head of Strategy will be the champion of our 2022 ambitions.

Develop and monitor the organization's overall short term and long term business strategy and planning by conducting relevant analyses and business modelling, collating and analysing inputs received from the different zones/ business units, horizontals (e.g. Respiratory, API etc.) and the global business intelligence team to ensure continued profitability and growth for Cipla.

Be a thought leader and the voice of industry and competitive landscape to keep giving suggestions to senior management

Reports to: Chief Strategy Officer

Accountability Cluster Major Activities / Tasks

I. Contribute to the development of the organization's overall short term and long term business strategy and planning to ensure continued profitability and growth for Cipla

- Proactively monitor and track on an ongoing basis, all internal and external events affecting the organization

- Proactively evaluate and recommend potential, novel growth strategies that build on the firm's current business through expansion into new geographies, markets, therapeutic areas and related businesses

- Conduct relevant analyses and business modelling, collate and analyse inputs received from the different zones/ business units, horizontals (e.g. Respiratory, API etc.) and the global business intelligence team

- Evaluate viable entry and investment approaches in close collaboration with the respective sub-function within strategy, create business plans and present recommendations to Head CNV and Strategy

II. Oversee the implementation of the corporate strategy as well as the business unit / horizontal specific strategy across different geographies to ensure continued profitability in line with the envisaged organizational goals and targets

- Monitor, track and review overall progress of strategic initiatives, their alignment to the agreed upon annual operating plans and consistency with the organizational goals through regular updates with the strategy team

III. Identify areas of concern across businesses and strategically important focus areas such as respiratory, API etc. and recommend timely course correction mechanisms to improve business sustainability and profitability in the long run

- Monitor and review the business across zones and horizontals and highlight critical areas of concern along with supporting data and analysis to the senior management

IV. Drive Business and Competitive Intelligence service to internal customers in Cipla thus becoming an independent source of data and information enabling sound business decisions and continuous improvement

- Drive generation of insightful analysis including competition analysis through development and application of tools and models to enhance the quality of decision making

- Deliver ongoing improvements in the BI system through adoption of best practices which deliver increasing value and quality of services

Educational qualifications:

- MBA from a Tier 1 B School

Relevant experience:

- 10 years of experience, with at least 3 in a top pharma company in a similar role. Or a consultant to pharma industry.

- Premier consulting firms and/or exposure to functional areas of strategic planning & business development a big plus.
