JOB DESCRIPTION - CTO (M&E)

Position : Chief Technology Officer Digital (Media & Entertainment)

Company : Asianet News Media and Entertainment Private Limited (AMEL)

Location : Bangalore

Reporting to : Chief Executive Officer

Role Purpose :

Custodian of AMEL's media-technology vision and execution of the same to drive differentiation / innovation in the space of Digital Media & Entertainment

Desired Skills:

- B.Tech/M.Tech form Tier I Engineering Schools.

- 15+ years of relevant experience

- Exposure to a wide variety of problem spaces, technologies.

- Very Strong System design and OO skills with a nifty ability to craft clean interfaces and operate at the right levels of abstraction.

- Have 5+ years- experience in web/app (responsive, iOS, Android) development - with a comprehensive knowledge of back/front-end functions (both theoretically and practically), cross platform compatibility and a keen eye for design and UI / UX.

- Stint in Digital Media Entertainment and Knowledge of Video technologies would be an advantage

Overall Responsibility

- Lead the execution of technology strategy for technology platforms, partnerships, and external relationships.

- Build and manage a technology team and oversee research and development, as well as project management.

- Provide visible leadership for the company within the media technology community.

- Anticipate major technology changes and ensure the adoption of these changes in the company.

- Establish technical standards and ensure adherence to them for product development and company operations.

- Participate in annual business planning and budgeting exercise as per formats prescribed by the corporate.

Strategy & Planning

- Identify opportunities in delivering the company's services as a web-based business, including opportunities for innovation, market assessment and potential targets for acquisition.

- Early identification of obstacles and technical hurdles affecting the business and overcoming them through diligent planning.

- Identify technology trends and evolving social behavior that may support the business.

- Evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms (including web application frameworks) for delivering the company's services.

- Communicate the company's technology strategy to investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders.

- Experiment with new & relevant technologies and tools, and drive adoption while measuring yourself on the impact you are able to create

Implementation & Deployment

- Responsible for driving Technology, Architecture & Good Practices in Engineering. Candidate should have high level of ownership of systems

- Establish and supervise a quality assurance process, including integration and system testing.

- Establish a robust vendor diligence and contracting process which ensures the best possible vendor services to the organization.

- Select, deploy, and monitor performance monitoring tools and take appropriate steps to increase utilization of technical equipment and software.

- Usage of web analytics to measure traffic and application usage of various digital assets of the company relative to business goals.

- Support the S&M team by providing faster implementation of technical requirements of internet marketing and search engine optimization.

Operational Management

- Ensure that the organization meets technology standards and best practices.

- Ensure the company's internal technological processes and customer-facing services comply with existing regulations for privacy, security, and social responsibility

- Share knowledge, mentor, and educate the organization's investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders with regard to the company's technological vision, opportunities, and challenges.

People Management

- Promote and develop a culture that inspires high levels of performance and employee retention

- Excellent team building and leadership skills are a must have.
