Job Profile
Client Description: One of our manufacturing fortune 500 MNC clients based at Kolkata / Calcutta.
Designation: Chief Risk Officer
Reports to: Regional Internal Auditor
Core Customers:
Risk Committee, Audit Committee, Executive Management, Internal and Internal Auditors.
Interfaces:
- Executive Management, Academic and Admin Staff, Internal and
- External Auditors, Council Members.
Job Purpose:
- The Chief Risk Officer will play a critical role in proactively identifying and understanding the potential threats, identifying opportunities, actions or events that will adversely affect the University’s ability to achieve its objectives. Devising mitigation strategies with line management and ensuring follow through.
- Embedding Risk management practices in the University and monitoring and reporting on these risks.
- Fulfilling the responsibilities of the Information Protection Officer and the Head of Internal
Audit.
Competency Profile
Minimum Essential - Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification or other relevant qualifications.
Desired
- Chartered Accountant CA (SA)
- And/or Certified Internal Auditor
- (CIA) qualification or other relevant qualifications.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- 5-10 years Risk Management Internal Auditing in a large organisation with at least 5 years experience in a senior management position.
- Experience with working in the Higher Education sector and/or Public Sector for at least 3 years.
- Extensive exposure to corporate governance and risk management disciplines.
- Sound understanding and working experience with Enterprise Risk Management practices and philosophy, including the design and implementation of processes and systems.
Knowledge
Institutional statutes.
- Financial Policies and Procedures.
- Tax Laws: VAT legislation, Foreign Exchange Act
- IFRS.
- King III Report.
- ITS regulatory frameworks plus knowledge of ITS would be advantageous.
- Microsoft Office (W ord, Excel; PowerPoint; Internet).
- Strong working knowledge of business finance, legal issues and SCM.
- PFMA, Treasury regulations.
- Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards
- Internal controls, Internal audit systems, Financial reporting, Financial systems, Fraud detection and
preventions strategies, Strategic management, Corporate Governance
- ISO 31000 and/or COSO standards
- Risk management software systems e.g. Barn Owl, Cura, etc.
