Chief Product Technology Officer - EdTech

We are a data-driven edtech SaaS company with a strong focus on user delight. We are looking for a future gazing, present building product + engineering leader. You will lead a strong, passionate, and high-velocity team of engineers and product managers to build our core product and an industry leading mobile educational platform. Some days you'll wear the product hat to whiteboard our platform's future. Other days you'll be hands on architecting modules, driving QA automation, and improving a Jira to deployment process. You will directly report to the CEO of the company.

We are moving fast and we seek a leader who can regularly launch features that delight our users and make them successful in colleges, universities, and in life. You will either bring with you or quickly identify best practices to improve the speed of feature launch, must-have scalability for a global SaaS platform and quality of experiences. Your specific responsibilities include:

- Architecting and developing web and mobile applications.

- Leading proof of concept solution development with customer institutions.

- Gathering functional requirements, developing technical specifications and test planning.

- Rolling up the sleeves and hands-on coding as demanded by a product's success.

- Enhancing performance & security and architect backend system integrations.

- Attract, recruit and retain talent through excellent communication, inspiration, mentorship and growth.

- Creating and implementing a new vision of educational software for the mobile era.

- Drive complex technical projects from the planning stage through execution and maintenance.

- Being a member of the Strategy team responsible for steering the organization's future.

Required Experience

- 7+ years of global software development experience with strong concentration in SaaS technologies.

- A PhD or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

Required Technical Qualifications:

- Strong architecture and system design skills in Enterprise Java, REST/SOAP web services, ORM, (JPA/Hibernate), Spring, Maven, Caching, XML/JSON.

- Experience with frontend frameworks that support client-side/server-side MVC/MVVM.

- Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.

- Experience with Test-driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD) and Automation.

- Experience with AWS Cloud Computing Services or other cloud platforms.

- Proven leadership in leading design, planning, & implementation of robust, highly available, scalable and secure web services.

- Strong communication in teams and program management.

- Team leadership and cross functional collaboration skills.
