AP Government's Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (IT E&C) Department, the Global Commercial Group (GCG) of IC2 Institute of University of Texas, Austin and FICCI have signed a MoU for establishing a Business Incubation Centre, XLr8AP, at Tirupathi.
GCG would train entrepreneurs; select start-ups for admission to XLr8AP; and, provide international business development services to incubating companies
Brief Candidate Profile.
Could be any or a combination of following - attributes-
Mindset of an entrepreneur & a builder of an Institution
Should have run a business Unit (example NIIT or APTECH or such) as a profit centre, taking accountability for business development; operations; affiliations for Certifications as also placements etc
Should have served as a Consultant to start-ups (be it as a mentor or in fund raising or such) from concept to contracting;
Consulting Organizations mediating between start-ups and funders
Should have been a start-up entrepreneur
VC engaged in due diligence
MSME guys who have a BD experience
Incubators in Academia; from host institution of technology business incubators (TBIs)
In-house innovation cells within corporate
Any Graduate; MBA at least from Tier2 B Schools; preferably 30-to-35 years of age;
Key Domain Competencies.
Budgeting for business (revenue model, OpEx);
Project Management; Operations Management
BD skills in developing a market for technology start-ups or R&D ideas incubated within XLr8AP
Management of a process of getting into a Contract (with R&D institutes or with customer for technology start-ups); facilitation of structuring of commercial deals (patenting, IP); legal knowledge as related to start-up ventures and IP protection
Due diligence prior to funding; knowledge of stages or rounds of funding for start-ups; fund-raising, investment, legal/regulatory framework; term sheets etc
Knowledge of working of Incubators, Accelerators etc - elements of "ecosystem" like Funders, Mentors etc
Knowledge of emerging technologies and a broad idea of how they can be commercialized; knowledge of any 1 domain from among IoT, BigData, Mobile Apps, Cloud, Education, Pharma etc and / or expertise in 1 function (fund-raising, M&A, P&L leadership etc)

4 start-ups to reach acceleration stage in 4 months- time; achieve about 19 start-ups reach acceleration stage in sixteen months- time
Number of deals closed (of licensing, distribution of product, end-use agreement, with organizations interested in joining in technology development and such)
Number of opportunities supported in their transactions with investment community
Number of Companies brought in to work in XLr8AP (and, generally the buzz created)
Number of people trained
Successful execution of other project timeline milestones as appropriate
