Job Description (JD) - Roles and Responsibilities Chief of Staff to the MD:
A Chief of Staff role comprises of the following roles and responsibilities:
1. Strategic Planning and Alignment
a. Lead the annual strategic planning process for the company by acting as a project manager and ensuring alignment with the top management.
b. Help determine key performance indicators and update dashboards as needed.
2. Direct support to the leader (MD)
a. Work with a leader to set strategic priorities (area of focus) and evaluate metrics regularly and evaluate progress.
b. Work with executive assistants (who manage travel arrangements), to oversee leader's external opportunities, including long-term travel and meeting plans, and assess their priorities.
c. Represent the leader in some project or decision-making processes, where their input and authority are needed.
d. Help prepare leaders for upcoming meetings by ensuring they have all the information necessary to be productive and engaged.
e. Manage a leader's internal and external communication (emails, letters, etc).
3. Special Projects
a. Oversee large, often cross-functional, organization-wide special projects or initiatives; bring together important stakeholders and help drive decisions.
b. Research, perform benchmarking, analyze data, and make recommendations.
c. Propose the creation of new systems and processes to streamline operations.
4. Hiring and Management
a. Manage hiring process for leadership roles reporting to the leader with the HR team.
b. Manage other members of the "office of the CEO" such as executive assistants, special projects managers, etc.
