Role: Chief of Staff to Founder & MD, Phi Capital Management LLP.

Location: Delhi

About Phi Capital: Phi Capital is an India focused sector-agnostic private equity fund focusing on mid-market growth, buyout, and PIPE opportunities. The fund deploys capital ranging from USD 10- 40 Mn across high quality mid-market opportunities in India. The current portfolio comprises of a set of companies across diverse industry sectors such as Auto OEM's & Components (Both IC & EV), Enterprise Tech, Healthcare, FMCG, BFSI. In terms of fund performance, the fund ranks in the top quartile of Indian PE funds of the same vintage. With the current fund fully deployed, Phi Capital is in the process of raising a significantly larger round.

About the role: The Chief of Staff Role at Phi will be a quasi-entrepreneurial role with the opportunity to shadow the Managing Director at Phi, across all business management activities, for the portfolio companies in which the company has invested. This will allow the candidate to build a thorough understanding of all business areas-operations, technology, strategy & innovation etc.

Given the nature of business and overall size of the team, the resource will need to be highly motivated, a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks.

- After two years, this role will offer flexibility to the candidate to either choose the investing track or take up a business management/P&L management role with a portfolio company of interest.

Objectives of this role:

1. Facilitate decision making: Much of this role will be spent with other leaders in the company (and portfolio companies), gathering data and hearing out various perspectives and then providing the MD with all the data so he's able to efficiently make the best decision with speed. You will provide advice as well and this is to be rooted in a data-driven approach.

2. Communication: Create content when needed (e.g PowerPoint presentations) to communicate the company's direction with clarity. This includes briefing teams (of portfolio companies) on new initiatives, gathering sentiment/feedback and getting buy-ins from various stakeholders.

3. Building operational excellence: Another key responsibility would be to plan and direct administrative and operational activities for the MD and resolve issues before they become big problems. This could range from the under-performance of any portfolio company to mediation between colleagues/stakeholders and so on. Your role is to gather and process the information for the MD to make the right decision quickly.

4. Identify and evaluate strategic business opportunities.

Requirements:

Education:

- MBA from a premier B-School with BE/B.Tech/CA

Function Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

- At least 5+ years' prior work experience in Private Equity / Management Consulting / Investment Banking / Equity Research.

- A strong entrepreneurial drive to find root causes and solve them

- Framework thinking & an ability to structure ambiguous & complex problems

- Resourceful and strategic thinker with strong problem-solving capability

- Meticulous operational rigor and project management capabilities

- A sounding board with a direct communication style

- Humble, dig-in, and deliver approach with strong executive presence

- Fluency in communication- both written and verbal

- Ability to influence people across levels, both internal and external

- Facilitate effective decision making
