Job Designation: Chief Manager - Production

Qualification: B. Tech/BE(Chemical Engineering)
Experience: 9-11 Years
Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Safe and Smooth Production
- He is accountable for absorption of technology to ensure safe and smooth plant operation. Since the technology is developed through in house R&D and is not fully established, it would require lot of understanding and improvements even after the plants have been handed over for commercial operation.
- He will ensure the development of operating manual, SOPs and W Is covering all the required parameters with the involvement of all the input resources.
- He will develop & ensure the implementation of systems for product quality management. He will be responsible for trouble shooting.
- He will prepare process related checklists for plant operations, shut down and restart of plants under his charge
- He shall make sure that all the resources (manpower, raw material, technical support) are available requisite systems are in place to make sure that people are available for production activities
- Manpower requirement from time to time and for one time activities is generated and organized
- Generate monthly reports covering highlights, performance, improvements achieved, issues, countermeasures and future plan.
- Preparation of customer audit and other audits under IMS
Quality
- He shall make sure that the quality management procedures are followed in letter and spirit.
- Any non-compliance is analyzed and countermeasures taken from time to time.
- The customer requirements are understood and incorporated in the production activities through suitable systems.
- He shall make sure that specified norms for production, energy and wastes are monitored and controlled.
Coordination
- He shall hold meetings with operating people to ensure that everybody is aligned to the weekly, monthly and longer term goals
- He shall identify the issues that come up from time to time and take countermeasures
- He shall highlight the issues in regular reports along with actions taken and current status
Manpower Planning and development
- In coordination with HOD and HR dept, he will ensure manpower requirements are met to achieve production targets.
- He shall deploy people according to the work requirements on day to day basis
- He shall motivate the people working under him to meet the targets.
Plant Modification and Technology related improvements
- Forecast possible problems and to take preventive action through EWR for the same by implementing Modification proposal.
- To identify the abnormalities which are not in line with Technology.
Good Manufacturing Practices
- He shall ensure that appropriate shop-floor practices are identified, communicated to all and followed
- Continually update self and the team members on the best practices prevalent in similar plants through interaction and visiting such facilities
- He will encourage team to use TQM methodology & initiatives to make systems suitable for the plants for improving efficiency.
Safety, Environment & 5S
- Several of the Flouro Specialties plants are meant to produce products for the pharma and agro-sectors. Raising the plant standards to meet the pharma and agro-sector requirements is necessary and facing audits by these companies is a big challenge. He will have to set standards to meet these challenges.
- He shall make the systems for maintaining the pollution free environment.
- He shall make and ensure implementation of the systems to ensure the safety of plant & people.
- Ensure compliance to safety, health and environment through periodic reviews.
- He will train & encourage people in maintaining good 5S practices in plant. To prevent accidents and near misses. They are analyzed to arrive at the root cause & actions are implemented to prevent recurrences.
- Conduct process FMEA to reduce breakdown and severity of process.
- Coordinate AEHS meeting to identify and resolve safety related issue.
- Conduct HIRA and change management studies to study the impact of process
TPM in allocated area
- Develop TIE leaders and team members in plant for all sections of the plant.
- Make area as model area with Kaizens, OPL and tracking abnormalities by involving all TIE members.
Customer Satisfaction
- Co-ordinate customers plant visit and implement their valuable suggestions
Institutionalization of IMS
- Continuous Up gradation of IMS by getting feedback from Plant problems, Internal audit, External audit and Customer feedback.
Challenges/Complexity of Job
- To ensure absorption of technology from R&D by following the UMBRELLA System.
- Provide feedback to R&D for deviations and seek guidance regarding new technology/ process
- To ensure efficient operation at its rated capacity of indigenously developed technology plant.
- To enhance catalyst life by understanding the catalyst chemistry.
- To make our product cost effective by having longer runs between regenerations.
- To raise plant standards to meet Pharma customer requirements.
- Safe and efficient operation of plant as it is highly corrosive and hazardous plant.
