Chief Manager - Instrumentation - Mfg

Purpose:

To lead Instrumentation maintenance team to ensure

- Maximum ‘On-stream’ availability of measuring and control instruments

- Implementation of project activities (modification or addition) related to instrumentation and to ensure statutory compliance with respect to weighing systems and nucleonic gauges

Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Accountabilities, Responsibilities/Control Points:

- Uninterrupted plant operation (instruments and automation control)

- Review of calibration system

- Review of abnormality reports and implementation of the corrective actions

- Identification of the improvements for reduction of MTBF & MTTR

- Review of repetitive breakdowns

- Repairing and troubleshooting of the instrument and control system

- Prioritization the key breakdown plants

- Analysis of the breakdown abnormalities and approval of the corrective/preventive actions - Instrumentation break down hours

- Schedule maintenance compliance

- Statutory Compliances

- Upkeep of Nucleonic instruments, as part of Radiation safety Officer

- TNPCB compliance on online analyzers

- Number of non-conformance from statutory agencies.

- Obsolescence management

- Identify the obsolete instrumentation

- Plan for phased removal of the obsolete instruments and control system.

- Production loss due to obsolescence

- R& M cost

- Quality of measurement

- Identification of the required master standards for measuring instruments.

- Assessment of adequacy for master and field instruments

- Review of the measurement instrument error

- Test instruments are traceable to national and international measurement.

- Standard instruments vs field instruments accuracy adherence

- Critical spare management

- Periodic review of critical spares.

- Approval of the minimum maintainable quantity of spares

- Study of the consumption pattern of the spares

- Number of stock out resulting in production loss

- Training

- Assessment of the domain skills of the NMS cadre employees

- Identification of the training needs for enhancing the domain knowledge

- Implementation of the training for skill level enhancement

- Implementation of the training for cross functional NMS cadre

- Number of LET classes taken to improve the skill level of the engineers and technicians.

- Number of electrical supervisor trained in Instrumentation and Process control.

- Annual planning Cycle

- Preparation of budget for the year

- Preparation of Break through directions, Control points and tasks and themes

- Preparation of Daily Management tasks and themes

- Completion of Annual planning cycle as per the schedule

Position Specification:

Educational Qualification : BE or Equivalent in Electronics & Instrumentation

Nature of experience : Maintenance of Process control Instrumentation in continuous process industry.

Duration of experience : 10 to 15 years.
