Mission:
As our CFO, you will be a visionary financial leader, instrumental in guiding our real estate company's growth and sustainable success. You'll navigate the dynamic landscape of real estate investing, drive data-driven decision-making, optimize funding structures, and champion financial integrity throughout every aspect of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Serve as a financial thought partner to the CEO and executive team, shaping long-term strategies that align with the company's vision, risk tolerance, and growth ambitions.
- Analyze market data, competitor activity, and macroeconomic trends to generate financial projections that inform resource allocation, expansion plans, and the pursuit of new investment opportunities.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and sophisticated financial modeling. Ensure accuracy and alignment with goals, while maintaining adaptability to respond to the ever-shifting real estate market.
- Develop in-depth financial feasibility studies for potential acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects, highlighting potential returns, risk factors, and the long-term impact on our portfolio.
Capital Markets Expertise & Investor Relations:
- Build and nurture relationships with lenders, equity investors, and financial institutions to secure optimal funding across our portfolio of real estate assets.
- Structure complex financing transactions (debt, equity, mezzanine financing, etc.), balancing strategic risk mitigation with maximum returns.
- Take a lead role in investor relations, communicating our financial performance, investment strategy, and long-term vision with transparency and clarity.
- Maintain a pulse on evolving capital market trends and regulatory changes affecting real estate finance. Proactively adapt our fundraising strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
Operational Finance & Performance Optimization:
- Analyze profitability at the project and business unit level, identifying opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and improved operational efficiency.
- Partner closely with project management, development, leasing, and property management teams. Provide actionable financial insights that facilitate smarter decision-making.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the financial health of the company, individual projects, and our investment portfolio.
- Collaborate with department heads to implement financial controls and processes that promote efficiency and accountability.
Corporate Governance & Compliance:
- Ensure GAAP compliance, timely and accurate financial reporting (SEC reporting if applicable), and strict adherence to tax regulations specific to the real estate industry.
- Oversee financial audits (internal and external), championing continuous improvement of internal controls and the mitigation of financial risk.
- Play a key role in investor reporting and board communications, providing clear explanations of financial performance and strategic initiatives.
Proactive Risk Management & Insurance:
- Identify and assess a wide range of financial risks, including interest rate fluctuations, construction cost overruns, legal and regulatory changes, tenant credit issues, and natural disasters.
- Design and implement risk mitigation strategies, contingency plans, and insurance solutions to protect our assets and ensure business continuity.
- Lead the risk management committee, promoting a culture of financial prudence and shared responsibility across the organization.
Technology Champion & Data-Driven Insights
- Spearhead the adoption of technology to streamline financial processes, automate reporting, and generate predictive analytics.
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and ongoing optimization of financial software systems (ERP, accounting, financial modeling tools, and business intelligence solutions).
Leadership of a High-Performing Team:
- Attract, retain, and mentor a world-class finance and accounting team. Foster a culture of intellectual curiosity, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Build a talent pipeline for the future, identifying high-potential individuals and providing meaningful development opportunities and succession planning.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or MBA with a finance concentration. CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience, including a minimum of 7 years in a senior leadership role within the real estate industry (development, REITs, private equity, etc.).
- Expertise in real estate valuations, deal structuring, capital markets, and investment analysis.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, tax laws, and financial reporting standards relevant to the real estate sector.
