CFO/CA - FMCG/Food/Retail/Food Processing


The Company : We are a digital-first food start-up led by entrepreneurs with deep experience in building FMCG brands and retail networks and fully-funded by marquee family offices.


Objective :

- The Chief Financial Officer will be in charge of the company's financial, accounting, legal and regulatory functions with a strong focus on partnering with the leadership teams and the board in compliance, management assurance, prudent resource allocation and in meeting business objectives.


- The CFO is among the first few hires in the organisation and will be the most critical business partner in shaping the organisation and its objectives.

Ideal Profile :

- The ideal profile is a financial professional with previous experience in Consumer Goods on the operator/retailer side and the Brand side.


- We need someone with a strong accounting background, preferably a Chartered Accountant with a deep cost-accounting mindset and also the ability to work and inspire people around them.


- Someone with experience in managing multiple consumer businesses and revenue streams from own platform, aggregators, distributors and retail operations, will be preferred.

Responsibilities :

- Play a leading role in the development of the company strategy and setting the key performance indicators for the business. Lead active resource allocation decisions, business and scenario planning activity.

- Providing sound and robust commercial support to the founders, leadership team members, board members in meeting medium and short-term business goals.

- Forecast and plan financial targets for each of the business units.

- Own business performance evaluation and management.

- Set finance control framework (policies and standards), delegated authority limits and ensure robust control environment

- Take ownership of legal entity oversight and manage all finance related statutory obligations and lead/manage food-related regulatory and legal compliance.

- Ensure appropriate reporting mechanisms are in place to satisfy leadership and board requirements.

- Play an active role in managing costs, purchase decisions and process implementation across business functions.

Requirements :

- Minimum of ten years of experience in accounting, with at least three years in leadership role, preferably in food services or food-led consumer brands organizations.

- Minimum educational qualification is CA or MBA with finance specialization.

- Prior experience in supervising accounting staff in preparing financial reports for consolidation monthly and annual statements.

- Prior knowledge of retail operations is preferred along with strong technical proficiency or understanding of ERP systems.

- Entrepreneurial. Track record in driving business strategies to commercial success, along with experience in setting up robust systems, processes in early-stage ventures.

- Strong technical excellence with a solid understanding of the capital allocation functions as well as a depth of knowledge and experience on the analytical side of finance.

- Highly developed financial planning and analysis skills that allow business partners to make better operating decisions.

- Define the metrics that drive performance, educate the organization on what is or isn't working and push the organization.

- Identifying key metrics that will help the entire organization to improve performance, and show an interest in both the consumer and the customers of the company.

- Upbeat, driven and inspirational leader with ability to build and sustain excellent relationships across all levels in the workplace.

- Strong communication and storytelling skills that are required for being an evangelist for the brands and company
