CFO - Engineering Consultancy Company - Leadership Position


Key Responsibilities :


The incumbent will be responsible for :

Beyond the core responsibilities of financial reporting, audit, compliance and planning, the jobholder will also play a strong role in both organic and inorganic expansion of the company. This will include looking at working with multiple stake holders, banks, consultants, Group Center etc. in alignment with business plans.

- The jobholder will be a part of the leadership team;

- In the nearer long-term, the person will jointly work with the board, Tata Sons and TCE leadership team in identifying acquisition targets and evaluate these in the business context. The jobholder will also innovatively source capital from markets in India (and overseas) from diverse sources;

- He/she will also act as the voice of the company in communications to the Board as well as Group Center;

- He/she will build a robust institutionalized structure in the function that withstands the vagaries of the environment, and one that is process driven;

- The job holder will also focus on cost management through processes and standardization of data and systems;

- Spearhead the entire gamut of financial operations for the company;

- Provide useful financial insights to the management for formulating and executing business strategy;

- Participate in corporate policy development as a member of senior management team; and jointly with the leadership drive the annual budgeting & forecasting process;

- Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards;

- Ensure timely compliance of all corporate, accounting standards, regulatory and statutory requirements;

- Develop & implement financial systems, processes and policies;

- Provide timely commercial and technical advice to SBUs to enable their business growth;

- Be proactively involved in being a core member of the risk management activities throughout the organization;

- Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports and any other such review documents as desired by the Board;

- Develop strong banking relationships for sourcing and management of working capital, term loan and project finance;

- Analyze cash flow, cost controls and capex to identify deviation and suggest remedial measures;

- Direct & Indirect tax planning, management and adherence to statutory compliance;

- Assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and the company's long-term strategy;

- Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the MD and to the Board;

- Engage the board's audit, investment and other committees on financial delivery;

- Establish yearly objectives and goals for the company;

- Build systems and procedures to mitigate risks;

- Asset liability management;

- Manage the financial systems, processes and supporting IT enabled environment in Finance and controls to effectively manage the role requirements;

- Manage cash flows and forecasting and drive collection with the SBU leadership, sales and project teams;

- Optimize the handling of banking relationships;

- Oversee budgeting and implementation of budgets to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally;

- Monitor the Company's performance in keeping with investments guidelines laid down by the Board;

- Recoveries and disbursements and their procedures.

Reporting Relationships :

This position will report into the Managing Director of Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd.


Desired Experiences Required to the Role :

- Ability to work with / influence senior management and build trust throughout the organization;

- Must have successful experience understanding of business with the ability to translate strategy into financial priorities and deliverables;

- Process and results focused, seeks practical solutions and has a sense of urgency about achieving results;

- Team player with the ability to form partnerships with staff at all levels of the organization, innately collaborative;

- The worthiest candidate will be one who has a strong track record in transformations both within the finance function and throughout the organization, viz. one who has the makings of a performance leader;

- He/she would be a person who thinks strategically and is able to comprehend and make sense of a complex maze of data utilized in making decisions regarding global expansion or M&A etc. He/she must have the intelligence and acumen to understand the business and its complexities, and, the environmental pressures;

- The candidate would be strong in systems and processes and hold a belief in system-orientation and standardization as a means of instilling financial discipline and cost controls. Building a team with relevant competencies and a system of reporting's and controls is essential;

- As the jobholder would be the chief communicator to the Board and to Group Headquarters on financial matters, his/her grasp on communication skills and effective presentations is absolutely essential;

- The personality being sought is that of one who is grounded, hands-on, a 'leader', motivator, and a safe pair-of-hands;

- Must be conversant with financial processes related to services industry;

- Liaison with Banks, financial institutions and government bodies;

- Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts;

- Fund raising & management experience;

- Could be from IT/ITES sectors; exposure to design & engineering business may be an advantage but is not absolutely essential;

- Ideally, the candidate would have had exposure to some international markets;

- Exposure to working on SAP FICO or equivalent systems would be a desirable element;

- Around 18-30 years' experience;

- Chartered Accountant and /or MBA in Finance.

- Strategic thinker with a strong financial acumen and understanding of key financial indicators;

- High level of dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation;

- Self-driven with high energy levels;

- Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to take decisions, rational judgments and implementation thereof based on relevant information

- High level of performance with uncompromising standards of integrity

- Ability to communicate effectively with all the stakeholders involved

- Ability to lead team towards desired common goals
