Chief Executive Officer - NBFC/Financial Services

Overview

We are a mid-size NBFC operating in the consumer lending space (primarily gold and mortgage loans) with a ~Rs. 100 crore balance sheet. The promoters have an ambitious growth charter for the company, with a goal of growing the top-line by 3x with healthy and consistent profit margins in the next 5 years, and subsequently taking the company public. This will require a transformation of the company including having the right management structure and team in place, pursuing growth opportunities, ingraining a high-performance culture, instilling rigor in operations, and more. We are looking for an enterprising leader who is excited by this ambitious mandate and can spearhead this growth transformation.

Designation: CEO (will start as General Manager under current CEO for 6 months before taking over as CEO)

Responsibilities

Develop and grow the organization to become a leading NBFC in India

- Build the right management team and structure within the NBFC to enable the ambitious growth mandate of the company

- Develop 5-year and annual plans with board buy-in, and take ownership of achieving the objectives

- Identify and oversee new initiatives and growth opportunities

- Establish best in class risk management capabilities to effectively manage and monitor credit risk and other business risks

Instill a high-performance culture and operational rigor

- Motivate the team and instill a high-performance, meritocratic culture in the organization

- Recruit motivated, high-caliber managers and domain experts for key roles

- Streamline operations and be rigorous on managing costs, with a view towards achieving healthy and consistent operating margins within 2 years

Prepare path towards becoming a public company in the next 5-7 years

- Establish systems and processes for effective board and investor communication / reporting (including, but not limited to quarterly and annual reports)

- Ensure strict adherence to regulatory & compliance requirements including RBI and other regulatory mandates

- Build investor confidence by delivering a track record of strong growth, healthy and consistent operating margins, a scalable business model, and highest standards of corporate governance

Experience & skills

- Overall experience of 10 - 20 years; 5 - 15 years in senior management roles in leading NBFCs or financial services companies

- Strong understanding of the market trends and financial products in the Indian lending market, and the regulatory environment

- Excellent communicator and negotiator; possesses a strong local network in the industry

- Exceptional team building and organizational skills; prior experience having turned around businesses / sizable business units strongly preferred

- Based out of / willingness to relocate to Cochin, Kerala
