- Would be heading all functions and reporting to the MD of a company in the heavy engineering sector. Incumbent should already be heading a business and doing at least Rs. 250 crore business.
- Incumbent should be from the construction /earthmoving/defence equipment industry and have exposure in more than one function.
- Should be an Engineer
- Ideally a BE in Mechanical Engineering with around 30 years of relevant experience.
Role Objective:
- Leads the corporate strategic direction and scans the business environment for new opportunities and markets
- Focuses on building on the strategy of the organization for a short term, medium term and a long term time frame
- Establishes a robust plan for execution of the strategic plan and monitors the same on a periodic basis.
- Identifies opportunities in current businesses by evaluating risks, formulation of action plans and monitoring of their effective deployment
- Leads by example in fostering leadership, team building and commitment across the organisation
Strategic:
- Identifies avenues for new business initiatives / tie-ups / technical collaborations etc. and provides business analyses related inputs to the Chairman & Managing Director and the Board of Directors
- Identifies areas for generation of further revenues from existing operations or through new business
- Partners with the Principals and work with them to ensure the formation of a successful business venture and the continuation of a successful and symbiotic relationship
- Provides all necessary support to the Chief Operating Officers in their business expansions and also monitors their ongoing performance
Corporate Planning and execution :
- Works closely with the head of functions to finalise the business plans and monitors its implementation to ensure robust growth and efficient operations
- Contributes to new business development through identification and development of a network (Client, partners etc ).
- Sets targets as milestones in consonance of the organization's objective of achieving self- sufficiency in operation
- Helps the head of functions to identify consultants (and other external agencies ), whenever needed and liases with them to ensure that all relevant techniques and processes are available to develop a robust business strategy and implementation plan
- Conducts a business portfolio analyses on a regular basis, develop ways to project the returns from current investments and assets to ensure that the organization continues on its growth path
- Supports the CFO to plan all capital expenditure and capacity enhancement in consonance with the strategic business objective.
- Review and monitoring of business performance
- Constantly reviews current business performances, identifies avenues to de-bottleneck operations to ensure greater efficiencies
- Analyses data on actual business performance against business plans to identify key focus areas for top management attention.
- Environment Scanning and risk management
- Scans environment constantly to identify risks and evaluate opportunities available, identify changes in the economy at national and global levels, analyse the impact of these changes on the business
- Identifies areas of business conflict and focuses on bringing in and promoting corporate governance principles in the organisation to reduce risks related to the same
- Contributes to the revenue growth of the organisation by identifying new avenues for further business
- Sets time-based target for revenue generation through new clients as a step for achieving self- sufficiency in operation
Takes responsibility for any new project costing based

- Contributes to the revenue growth of the organisation by identifying new avenues for further business

People Development:
- Takes responsibility for people development initiatives and building up of in-house capabilities aimed at succession planning for all key positions
- Interacts regularly with heads of functions to identify and remove any obstacles to the fostering of an efficient and value driven work culture
- Interacts with all employees on a regular basis to understand their key concerns and ensure development of systems and policies that are enabling
Total Quality Employees
- Ensures adequate motivation and retention of all employees.
- Provides the necessary leadership and guidance to key employees and top performers through mentoring and identification of best practices to enhance performance excellence
Customer relationship management :
- Ensures sound and robust systems for CRM, which aim at identifying and addressing customer needs on a continuous basis
- Takes feedback from customer on issues regarding quality and delivery schedules
