Chief Credit Officer

Reporting To : The Chief Executive Officer

The Role:

- The main purpose of this role is to assume full responsibility of the Credit Portfolio of the Bank, including policy and strategy level intervention, leading a team of professionals in the area of credit management, ensuring compliance with the local regulations, inculcate sound risk management practices and imparting / developing skill sets of personnel in Credit Department.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

- To ensure that the Credit Policy of the Bank is always compliant with the local regulations, inculcate sound risk management practices and, at the same time, maintain enough flexibility to accommodate the growth plans of the bank in by carrying out periodic reviews.

- To devise strategies for Credit Risk Management in keeping with the Bank’s plan for Credit Growth.

- To devise strategies for and implement Board approved Portfolio Risk Management standards.

- To assume overall responsibility of the smooth functioning of the Credit Department of the bank and lead a team of officials in the following functional areas

- Overall Credit Risk Management.

- Processing Credit Application: Turn-around-time (TAT) for Credit Applications to be met as per Service Standard Guarantees by obtaining

- Credit Approvals within stipulated time.

- Security Creation / Perfection / Protection.

- Booking of credit facilities

- Obtaining approvals for Unadvised Limits.

- Processing of Excess Drawing requests and reporting the same as laid down in the Credit Policy

- Overall control and monitoring of credit portfolio

- To carry out Quarterly Portfolio Review, recommend to the Management for additional provisions / write-back of provisions.

- Management of Non-Performing Loans

- Compilation and submission of data / returns / reports / notes to top management, committees, board and to the central bank.

Education and Experience:

- A Bachelors degree and at least 15 years experience in the banking sector, at least 7 to 10 years management experience in this field.

- Should have worked in a Centralised Credit Processing Cell dealing in SME credit proposals and documentation.

- Preferably should have worked in a banking group with multi country operations.

Competencies:

- Comprehensive experience in Corporate Banking, Credit Risk Management, and Portfolio Risk Management.

- Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi country environment.

- Strong process oriented skills and a high degree of solution orientation and perseverance.

- Active policy and strategy level involvement in corporate banking for over 5 years.

- Strong monitoring capability of the credit portfolio.

- Ability to work and think strategically.

- Ability to work independently and under pressure.

- Good understanding of Credit Operations

- Quality and action oriented

- Good communication skills.

- Computer literacy.

- Honest, confident and should have high integrity
