Job Profile: Chartered Accountant (Tax Assessments, Appeals & Litigation)
Location: Mumbai, Full-time In-Person
Experience: At least 6 years full-time post-qualification experience
Salary: Negotiable (Based on experience and qualifications)
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Assessments:
- Manage the assessment process with the Income Tax Department, including responding to notices and requests for information.
- You will independently handle complicated assessments directly with the Senior Partner, and - will supervise and oversee less complicated assessments, where junior members of the team will be involved.
Appeals & Litigation Management:
- Handle the entire litigation process from drafting appeals to appearing before tax authorities such as assessing officers and CIT(A)
- Prepare detailed submissions, counter-representations, and evidence to support clients' positions during tax disputes.
- Coordinate with outside Counsels when necessary and manage the execution of strategies for successful case resolution, and in representation before the ITAT and higher judicial authorities.
Advisory & Research:
- Provide expert advice to clients on tax planning and dispute resolution.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and prevailing jurisprudence to provide accurate guidance.
- Assist in researching complex legal issues and drafting legal opinions on contentious tax matters.
Client Management:
- Manage a portfolio of clients across multiple industries, providing proactive tax support and updates.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring timely communication and resolution of their tax matters.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain detailed records of tax assessments, audit reports, appeal proceedings, and litigation outcomes.
- Ensure all documentation is in compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain confidentiality.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Educational Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA) with at least 5-7 years of post-qualification experience in tax assessments, appeals, and litigation.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of Indian tax laws, including Income-tax Act and related regulations. Expertise in tax litigation procedures, including drafting and filing of appeals.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex tax matters, formulate strategies, and offer practical solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients, authorities, and colleagues effectively. Ability to prepare legal and technical documents clearly.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to manage complex cases with precision and attention to detail, ensuring no aspects of the case are overlooked.
- IT Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and tax-related software.
- Industry Knowledge: Exposure to working with clients in diverse sectors, including manufacturing, services, and technology.
