Credit Controller - Logistics/Freight Forwarding


Purpose of the position: 

To manage the entire customer credit in India and all overseas (group companies/third party agents) settlements/reconciliation and ensure that the company receives its dues in a timely manner. This position has to co-ordinate with other business verticals apart from the finance team to ensure that the company has positive working capital and favourable current ratio.

Responsibilities & duties: 

- Assessing the current customer credit situation and taking corrective measures in grading the customers as appropriately on periodic basis.

- Ensure that the credit policy is strictly adhered too by all the stakeholders of the company.

- Assist in setting up a more robust credit request/approval, credit enhancement process.

- Evaluation of new customer credit application and fixing credit limits.(no. of days and credit amount)

- Ensure that debts are paid on timely manner.

- Follow up on all overdue invoices through different modes of communication within agreed timescales.

- Regularly making contact with customers to ensure that all relevant debts are managed as necessary.

- Identify changes in payment patterns and propose corrective measures.

- Ensure that all transactions are compliant with Company's policies.

- Handle disputed invoices and negotiate to bring credit terms within the agreed terms.

- Undertake account reconciliations as required.

- Overseeing Periodic TDS receivable reconciliation of the company.

- Proposing write offs of irrecoverable receivables

- Proposing to the management on moving forward with legal cases for disputed receivables at the appropriate time and coordinating all legal procedures with respective counsel.

- Handling/Overseeing all inter-group reconciliations and third party agents at regular intervals.

- Providing ad-hoc reports and related analytical reports to the management as and when required.

Academic & trades qualifications :

Essential qualifications: 

- Preferably a commerce graduate with MBA in finance from a reputed B-school or equivalent professional qualification like a CA, CMA. (Inter qualified candidates with good experience would also be considered)

Work experience & skills: 

Essential experience & Skill set: 

- Minimum five to eight years of experience in managing customer credit preferably at the managerial level.

- Sound accounting knowledge.

- Good knowledge of Excel, Power point a must.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills particularly in English. Verbal communication in Hindi would be an added advantage.

- Extremely good in financial analysis of a customers balance sheet, Profit and loss account and other financial parameters.

- Good team management skills

- The ability to work in a team and individually.

Desirable Experience:

- Experience in a logistics industry preferably a freight forwarding company similar to our business model would be an added advantage.
