Reporting to Head of Category Management

The Category Manager is an Expert of his market and categories, and set-up the Offer strategy for categories he is in charge. In this frame, his main activities are:

1.Define the product offer of his categories

2. Propose the commercial policy for his categories in accordance with commercial project of the company

3. Propose an assortment structure, a range of products structure and a promotional policy in accordance with the role of his categories

- The Category Manager participates to define the targets of his categories. In this frame, his main activities are:

1.Contribute to attract new customers and make loyal all customers to the banner, to develop the profitability and the growth of his categories

2. Stay on permanent standby situation and observation of the markets, trends, and customers' expectations,

3. Animate information flows of his categories

- The Category Manager, as a leader of his categories:

1.Cooperates with all functions of the company for his concerned categories

2. Manages eventually subordinates, as assistant or planogrammers

- The Category Manager is a Member of Clients Groups, and contribute to the company development. In this frame, his main activities are:

1.Contribute to strategic projects

2. Contribute to professionalize all collaborators related to his categories

3. Develop Client Group's image, purpose and values of the company

4. Work in collaboration with teams of the Group

- The Category Manager works under the responsibility of Head of the Offer

- The Category Manager interacts and implements the Offer strategy

- The category Manager interacts in the P&L of his categories to maximize as much as possible the sales and the profitability

- The Category Manager works in deep relation with related buyers, marketing managers and stores managers to understand results of his categories and his decisions and implement all necessary actions' plans for improvement

- The Category Manager is curious, opened minded, and in deep listening of the market, customers, trends.

- Analysis and synthesis' abilities of quantitative and qualitative data's

- Ability to build a clear vision from collected and analyzed data's

- Ability to practice and use IT tools

- Ability to convince

- Cooperation mind with all functions of the company with a deep listening ability

- Results oriented

- Sales growth and evolution of the sales formula

- Market share trend

- Profitability trend

- Analyze the positioning of a range of products on the market in accordance with the company commercial strategy: sales, volumes, . contributions, space in store, .

- Organize market survey for understanding better its trends

- Analyze the competitors' offer

- Secures the implementation of his categories policies in the company and every stores

- Writes the tree / structure of customers' needs and customers' entrance keys

- Defines the assortment structure and range structure

- Defines the range structure (national brands, private labels, first price ranges and other brand challengers) and communicates it to the buyers and product managers

- Secures the ranges of products match with the customers' expectations and business model targets of his categories

- Set-up a plan of products usage to develop private label range of products and communicates it toe the buyers and products managers

- Defines an optimal communication plan for his categories and proposes it for validation to his direct hierarchy

- Defines and writes the brief of thematic commercial operations and seasonal events

- Proposes the commercial policy for his categories with simple key indicators, as customers' image, penetration, average price, price policy, share of market, .

- Defines the necessary resources to implement the promotional strategy

- Measures the economic (profitability) and commercial performance (share of market) of his categories, communicate it and proposes adjustments for reaching or over performing results and targets

- Defines price for promotional leaflets and supports

- Regularly on the field, listens habitants and customers, visits stores and animates his categories' network

- Has a high level of listening, study and analysis of the market to identify potential positive impacts for KM business

- Benchmark, listens, understands trends of consumption and identifies potential growth on his categories

- Animates the category network that is the leader for

- Is the main interlocutor for stores regarding the range and commercial animation

- Organizes and coordinates the information flow for his categories

- Is a permanent deep listener of the markets, customers' expectations, stores, with a strong opened mind

- Is in contact with suppliers regarding the innovations and new products

- Works in close relation with buyers: communicates the range structure and gets all useful information from buyers to drive as best as possible the categories' results

- Works in close relation with markets organisms in order to understand the trends and potential impacts on his categories

- Works in close relation and collaboration with commercial marketing functions

- Animates daily brief or weekly / monthly meeting

- Gives vision of company commercial policy, projects, results. Gives sense

- Set-up performance targets and rules of game, in order to grow and secure a qualitative follow-up

- Defines actions for making growing professionalism

- Position himself as an actor for change et involve himself in success of transversal projects

- As a leader and expert of his categories, can be trainer for colleagues on his categories

- Welcomes and trains new comers

- Develops ethic relations with all internal and external relationships

- Secures to be always aligned with strategy of the company

- Illustrates in any occasion and circumstance a positive image of the company in accordance with its values

- Works eventually for other companies and countries of the Group, for example to share his best practices and know-how to other colleagues

Bachelor Degree

At least 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar position, African exp & English & French.
