Our client is a disruptive startup in the offline retail market that is creating an enterprising platform to bridge retailers and manufacturers across India. Founded by a dynamic duo of IITians with decades of rich experience in companies like Intel, Flipkart, Myntra BCG and Apple, the company is on its journey to make manufactured products more accessible and thereby build some serious competitiveness in the offline retail segment.
As a Category Manager, you will have end-to-end responsibility for the growth of the category(-ies) and customer experience. Your role is to understand the selection requirement and price expectation of fashion SMEs, bring in the relevant assortment at the best prices, design targeted promotions, and manage partners including suppliers and logistics partners.
What you will do:
- Identifying market trends in non-branded fashion in target regions, gaps within category(-ies) and ensure that they are addressed.
- Identifying, launching and growing categories and sub-categories (hero-products, new entrants)
- Defining winning attributes of selection, measuring selection performance; taking responsibility for merchandising and assortment planning
- Using deep understanding of customer needs to evolve the product offering in cooperation with the Product team
- Ensuring the right selection of suppliers, helping the Sourcing team to maintain relationships with key suppliers and ensuring that this company is the preferred partner
- Owning P&L for the category(-ies), including GMV and profitability targets
- Working closely with various internal teams across Product, Central Operations, Sales, Sourcing, Marketing, etc.
- Managing relationships and taking accountability of the end to end delivery of projects to lead category growth
- Measuring and reporting performance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Actively collaborating with other stakeholders such as Central Operations, Sales, Sourcing and Marketing
Candidate Profile:
What you need to have:
- 1-2 years of experience in category management, operations, analytics, or merchandising
- Working knowledge of apparel industry - at least 1 year of experience
- Experience in the early stage or Series A/B startups will be highly preferred
- Excellent Communication Skills
