The Opportunity

As a part of the Investments Unit team, the role of a Business Analyst / Associate provides a wonderful opportunity to work with a new and challenging initiative, and with an organization that is quickly being recognized for its work by major players across different industries, and that still retains the innovation and creativity of a start-up. You will work with a high-performing dynamic team on a variety of assignments that will expose you to the gamut of activities that are shaping sustainable growth in the social sector.

The Investment Unit is mandated with supporting Internal initiatives, change partners & resource organizations through multiple services ranging from Business planning, financial modelling, market landscape analysis & analytics and eventually leading to decision on investible proposition. The BA role would be expected to provide support on some/all of the functions mentioned.

Primary Responsibilities

Transaction advisory for blended finance

- Assist in market mapping for potential funders for select initiatives within the Catalyst group - Create a pipeline for sources of funding (catalytic grants, debt) and evaluate potential internal investment opportunities based on nature and interest of funder

- Lead on investor outreach on behalf of companies' management for scaling of various programs - Design relevant pitch decks and outreach to potential funders for different forms of capital

- Support on due diligence process and monitoring processes post-investment - Assisting in preparation of documents and presentations for grant making and funding, reporting, priorities and manage project deliverables, ensuring timeliness

Conduct market analysis and ongoing trends analysis

- Undertaking macroeconomic, regulatory and Undertake market landscape analysis for various relevant thematic sectors or for specific partner related sectors

- Provide sectoral analysis of blended finance models in livelihood (smallholder farmer and MSME space), primary healthcare and financial inclusion

- Generate insights using data basis comprehensive sectoral research for a given project

Development of new and innovative blended finance models for internal incubations

- Develop detailed business plan for internal incubations as well as external partners, post thorough understanding of the initiative, with inputs from IU team

- Work with internal stakeholder for finalizing financing models and strategy for incubations / programs

- Assist in internal approval process for incubations to convert t investible models by working on establishing and adhering to investment, risk and impact measurement processes and procedures

- Any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the IU team and senior management

Desired Competencies

- Preferably a Master's degree in economics, business administration, social sciences, development studies or related fields

- 3 - 5 years of experience as an Analyst preferred

- Strong analytical abilities and discipline, ability to think clearly in ambiguous situations, structure problems logically, and then design and implement solutions that focuses on core issues

- Excellent understanding and experience in quantitative & qualitative research, analytics, landscaping studies

- Data management experience- oversee data collection, cleaning, analysis and synthesis

- Ability to synthesize information from diverse sources and present in an intelligible format

- Highly effective interpersonal skills: warmth, tact, diplomacy and creativity

- Willing to take on new types of work, even without prior experience and with minor supervision

- Ability to work in a collaborative, multi- disciplinary, dynamic environment as part of a closely-knit team

- Fluency and excellent communication skills in English and preferably one additional regional language (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, etc)

- Detail oriented, with strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills

- Strong quantitative skills and advanced proficiency in MS Excel, experience in managing large quantitative datasets, data analysis and visualization

- Ability to deal with changing environments
