Position Purpose & Summary
Cargill Trade and Capital Markets business creates innovative and bespoke financial solutions through trade finance tools for banks and corporates as well as for Cargill buyers and suppliers, in frontier, emerging & developed markets. We work with these customers, to create financing structures that enable the buying and selling of agricultural and other commodities while mitigating the risks associated with cross-border transactions. TCM also has a scaled financial trading business focused on proprietary trading of financial products, currencies, equities, credit and rates.
TCM Associate Program is an early career rotation opportunity for fresh university hires into TCM. The program provides hands-on exposure to different business areas of TCM, ongoing mentorship by appointed leaders, and purposeful assignments that prepare them to take on a more permanent role. This is a great opportunity for young talents to learn and work alongside subject matter experts who are leaders in the financial services industry. Principal Accountabilities
Rotating experience in various TCM units such as Origination, Structuring, Risk Investors Group, and Financial Trading Group.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Origination:
- Track macro-economic and political developments in geo markets and provide corresponding analysis as an input to strategy development
- Assess new markets economic viability through research and analysis
- Participate in external client meetings to understand customer needs
- Participate in cross-TCM brainstorming sessions to come up with solutions for specific market/customer/trade realities
- Provide support and follow-up on business opportunities with other Cargill Business Groups
- Provide support for corporate sector analysis in geo markets and prospect screening
- Track syndication and loan market transactions within the Financial Institution and Trade Finance domain
- Provide support for deal profitability and risk/return calculations
- Profit and Loss (P and L) tracking and consolidation
- Risk reporting input and consolidation
- Debt reporting input and consolidation
- Trade flow projection input and consolidation
- Track counterparty limits and utilization
Structuring:
- Develop deep understanding of core TCM products
- Develop deep understanding of the building blocks for implementing new products and navigating through the internal system to put the pieces together
- Develop skills for risk identification and mitigation
- Active involvement in the renewal process of Product Approval Forms (PAF)
- Active involvement in solving issues related to existing products
- Maintain existing documentation templates as well as create documentation templates for newly created ideas
Risk Investors Group (RIG):
- Develop insights into the various investor groups comprising RIG's investor base
- Develop deep understanding of TCM's disclosure policy
- Participate in investor meetings - ensure meeting preparation, prepare the resultant meeting report, and ensure accountability on follow-up action items
- Support RIG Traders via the distribution of Cargill Business Groups- Letters of Credits, Account Receivables, Repo, and other TCM products
- Develop working knowledge of TCM's Global Insurance business including processes from application, policy binding and claims together with investor Master Funded Participation Agreement (MFPA) and funding of positions
Financial Trading Group (FTG):
- Desk trade support such as entering trades, Profit and Loss (PnL) calculation and reconciliation, and position reporting
- Macro-economic data gathering and analysis
- Quantitative trading model analysis and support
- Fixed income, currencies, equity, and interest rates trade analysis and idea generation
- Special trading projects development and implementation
Education, Experience, Skills:
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- A solid university education. Candidates from Tier 1 Business Schools, majoring in Finance.
- Highly motivated, self-starter, and driven to succeed
- Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to deal with ambiguity
- Comfortable taking and managing risks
- Deep curiosity and willingness to learn
