cKinetics is looking for an energetic Associate - Carbon Offsets who is passionate about the carbon market & energy transition space and looking to be a part of the team that does meaningful cutting-edge work.
We are a team focused on the growing sustainability space, compliance carbon markets, and voluntary markets worldwide. We are hiring for the carbon markets team, looking for candidates with prior domain knowledge. Ideally, candidates should have prior exposure to the carbon offset markets, energy transition and low carbon solutions.
Purpose of the position:
The Associate - Carbon Offsets role involves researching, assessing and evaluating both compliance and voluntary carbon offset markets to produce high-quality deliverables for our clients. This includes creating presentations, insight reports and narratives backed by market analysis, data and modelling.
The candidate must: (i) develop an understanding of the different drivers and constraints impacting the voluntary or compliance carbon offset markets (ii) undertake primary and secondary research and present findings in aligned structures and formats (iii) meet internal delivery timelines diligently (iv) work cohesively and contribute positively to team environment (v) learn and hone skillsets that are essential to delivering tasks with the requisite quality.
Key responsibilities
1. Sector and Industry Research
- Independently undertaking analysis of the global voluntary carbon offset markets, as well as regional compliance programs with a specific focus on North America.
- Be up to date on policy changes and market developments and assessing their impact on the respective markets/programs.
- Leading conversation with clients, advisors, and external market participants globally and solving client problems.
- Identifying patterns and trends in data to draw conclusions and make inferences.
2. Project delivery
- Creating impactful written and oral presentations - Produce reports containing data insights, trends, patterns, etc. derived from structured/ unstructured data analysis.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the Carbon team - Work with Senior Associates/ SEMs/ EMs to develop cohesive solutions for client projects/ problems/ programs/ product.
- Providing delivery support for on-demand consulting projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery and with requisite client delight.
3. Project Monitoring and Time Management
- Adhering to task completion timelines by self-monitoring and aligning with Analysts for successful project completion.
- Utilizing internal/ company project management/ time management tools/ software in day-to-day work to record time utilization for respective projects.
Academic qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor's/Master's degree in energy, environment, economics or other related technical fields
- Demonstrated research, education, or work experience related to carbon markets, climate change, energy, or public policy
- Experience as an author or co-author of papers, technical or policy reports, white papers, and other forms of written communication.
- Must have relevant 2-4 years of experience in consulting in a related field: carbon markets, energy transition, sustainability and renewable energy.
