Required Experience:
- Candidate to have a minimum of 3-4 years experience in sales
- National sales and some marketing experience is a definite advantage. Preferably, career started in Sales or Marketing.
- Fluent and Proficient in English
- Excellent analytical, planning, communication and people skills
- Aggressive and strategic, able to think out-of-the-box to generate new ideas which leads to additional or new income streams
Required Education/Skills:
- University graduate with major in business / marketing related discipline
- MBA definite an advantage
Major Job Functions:
Job Description
The BU (Business Unit) Head has overall P&L responsibility for the assigned products. The BU Head is responsible for managing the business unit and overseeing the operations to ensure alignment and compliance of business strategies, objectives, laws and regulations. The BU Head is responsible for creating and consolidating annual sales and expense budgets for the assigned products and subsequently formulating, implementing, evaluating and refining business strategies and marketing plans. The BUM leads and coaches the sales and marketing team, and manages local distributors to ensure sufficient effort and resources are in place to achieve the business unit goals and objectives. The BU Head is also responsible for maintaining close working relationship with both external and internal counterparts to ensure effective communication, build rapport, influence government policy, leverage customer relationship, promote synergy, improve operation efficiency, maximize resources and ensure internal control and compliance.
P&L Responsibility
Monitor both revenue and expenses in order to meet the revenue and profitability targets. Review all in-coming orders to ensure the terms and conditions meet Company expectations. Analyze market dynamics and special business cases, evaluate the pros and cons from both financial and non financial point of views, and make recommendations. Review AR situation, pull resource to maximize collection efforts, formulate and implement action plans to achieve collection targets.
Deliverable: Well managed revenue and expenses in accordance to forecast. Well thought out analysis and recommendations on business issues. Improving AR situations.
Forecasting and Budgeting
Lead the product marketing team to compile detailed revenue and expenses budgets (including revenue, sales mix, product mix, expenses, manpower plan, sales and marketing activities, travel and entertainment, IT and etc.) and update the budgets whenever necessary. Provide Rolling Sales Forecast by product line on a monthly basis.
Deliverable: Approved revenue and expenses budget for next year. Monthly Rolling Sales Forecast and predictable operating results (sales and expenses).
Order Planning and Inventory Control
Take market dynamics into considerations and project unit sales. Well thought-out order planning and effective inventory control to maintain inventory at cost effective levels which satisfy both seasonal and situational demand. Help and educate distributor to manage UBD and inventory control effectively.
Deliverable: Adequate inventory levels and minimum product expiration.
Business Planning
Create and recommend a clearly defined medium term marketing strategy (1 - 3 years) for achieving business unit goals and objectives, and subsequently formulate, implement, evaluate and refine the annual business plan with details of sales and expense budget.
Deliverable: Short-term - A refined business plan in action for the current year and the next year which outlines the strategy, tactics, action plan and milestones for achieving the current year sales and expense budget. Medium-term - A well thought-out (3-year) marketing plan for the next 3 years with details of assumptions, analysis, business directions, strategic recommendations, milestones, proforma sales and expense budget.
Sales Management
Build (recruit, train, manage, lead, coach and retain) the business team (sales, marketing, technical support and distributors) to meet the sales and expense budgets for the assigned products. Implement, evaluate and refine business plan by dividing the action items down to individual level on a quarterly basis and project rolling sales forecast on a monthly basis. Propose sales targets and formulate incentive plan for distributor to drive projected results
Deliverable: Predictable operating results (sales and expenses) with strategic action plan to rectify the concerns and issues which pull the business team towards the same direction to perform and deliver the expected results (sales and expense budget). A well structured distributor incentive plan driving projected results.
Pricing
Develop and recommend pricing structure which meets or exceeds profit margin targets. Build and put price deviation procedure in place to ensure effective price control. Set very clear and measurable targets, rules and procedure for calculating and recording sales rebate.
Deliverables: Propose, justify and publish price lists for end user and distributor.Create a template (excel worksheet) for calculating profit margin.Ensure all sales transactions meet or exceed the profit margin targets.A sound price control procedure in place to allow sufficient room for price negotiations and effective price control.Full and complete record of sales rebate calculations and payment record.
Credit Management & Account Receivable
Support and adhere to credit management policy. Monitor and control account receivable within guidelines from company. Lead and manage collection activities.
Deliverables: Improved DSO and reduced bad debts.
Business Development
If you are assigned as Project Leader, take ownership of specific projects and bring them on-line. Coordinate with corporate/regional franchise to help / manage information collection. Identify and investigate potential new products and obtain feedback from current customers. Conduct market research, analyze and evaluate market data, conduct feasibility study on specific projects, formulate business plan to start the business.
Deliverable: Project proposal with details of project objective, methodology, action plan and timeline. Project report with detailed information, situation and financial analysis and recommendations which enables management to determine departmental priority, resources allocation, overall direction and strategy. .
Administration
Perform administrative functions as required. Ensure appropriate and well-organized records and files are maintained. Adhere to company administrative policies, Travel and Expense Policy as per Employee handwork and other policies from time to time.
Deliverable: Well-organized records and files are maintained. Clear and traceable reports on event and marketing promotion budget. Documented procedures in place to review and endorse all project related expense claims. Adhered to Travel and Expense Policy and Company- Business Practice Manual.
Company- Business Practice Manual
Strictly adhere to the Company- Business Practice Manual. Maintain the highest ethical standards while conducting and managing the company's business, faithfully implementing the company ethics policy and all other local laws and regulations.
Deliverable: All of your team members fully understood the Company- Business Practice Manual and confirmed their compliance by signing and returning the acknowledgement.
Human Resources Management
Coordinate with Human Resources to build and develop the business team. Develop and coach your subordinates through regular performance feedback. Work with your subordinates to set clear long and near term priorities and objectives, ensure adequate 1:1 with your subordinates throughout the year; provide them candid and timely performance feedback whenever necessary. Identify key talents; retain them through continuous training and advancement opportunities. Help underperform subordinates to formulate development plan and monitor their progress. Recommend promotions, separations, compensation adjustments, and training requirements. Ensure all team members work reasonable hours and are able to take holiday and vacations. Develop and update job descriptions for all positions within your business team.
Deliverables: Finalized PMO for the year and documented performance feedback. Documented development plan for underperform subordinates with very clear expected results. Programs / recommendations for retaining key talents. Metric recommendations; promotion, separations recommendations. Updated job descriptions for your subordinates.
