Role Title : Business Management Team Manager - Markets

Location : Bangalore

Job Purpose :

- Lead Business Management resource for Markets across FX, Fixed Income, Rates and the Markets Management Office in London.

- Management responsibility for business management resources in Bangalore.

- Establishment of the Strategic Planning function for Markets

- Responsible for building an enthusiastic and motivated team that demonstrate Values and principles

- Provide leadership, support, guidance and coaching to all team members

- Be involved in strategic discussions with the senior management teams within the offshore centre and also with onshore business partners to enhance the quality of output

Specific responsibilities include :

- Strategic Planning will extend the BAU Business Management function to produce the relevant MI and analytics required to inform strategic planning activities of the Markets Management Office. The function will work with senior stakeholders in each asset classes (FX, Fixed Income and Rates) and the Markets Management Office to drive analysis and planning of strategic initiatives.

- Engage with Group Strategy and Planning on of Group level strategic initiatives that impact Markets, and Markets originated strategic initiatives

- Coordination and support of the governance forums for each of the asset classes (FX, Fixed Income and Equities) and the Markets Management Office

- Coordination and ownership of Management Information required by each of the asset classes and the Markets Management Office for business monitoring and key decision making - across strategic initiatives, business performance and headcount.

- The role holder will play a key role in driving a globally consistent Business Management MI function across Markets.

- Liaison with COO community as a communication point for the Management Office on key initiatives, change programmes, issues and other important business impacts which are critical for the Management Office to both understand and to be positioned to provide support for where necessary.

- Support of the Head of Business Development and Global COO in central Management Office owned and executed initiatives (for example the Front to Back Governance) on an ad hoc basis

- Interaction with key Markets support Functions including Operations, Compliance, Finance and Product Control, and Technology with regards to Management Office governance forums and associated information gathering

- At this stage, it's the "seed capital" that is been deployed to cater to the initial thrust of businesses and its people in Bangalore. The JD reflects the initial expectations from the roles at this stage. As the migration progresses with clear deliverables identified, more details will be added to the JD

- Streamlined Management Office information gathering, production and reporting

- Cognizant of changing regulatory environment and ramp up team to cater for future growth needs

- Accurate MIs and management pack

- Effective PLAs for all processes with strong governance and oversight

Customers / Stakeholders :

- Key resources in Markets Management Office in London - including Global Head of Business Development and associated Business Management resources

- Markets COO Community including Regional and Asset Class COOs and associated Business Managers

- Feedback from key Markets stakeholders

- Ability to drive change with global asset class COOs & business managers

Leadership & Teamwork :

- Responsible for establishment and leadership of the Markets Business Management and Strategic Planning function in Bangalore

- Responsible for ensuring seamless communication and teamwork between Business Management resources in Onshore locations and counterpart resources in Bangalore

- Builds strong relationships with counterpart resources in Onshore locations

- Set expectations, share best practice and manage, monitor, coach and develop leaders and others to ensure that they maximise their performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience

- Drives performance management through coaching with productive use of Personal Development Plans and appropriate follow up

- Establishing robust and sustainable markets capability in service centre

- Coach and mentor team members

- Ensure team has clear understanding on wider Markets strategy

Operational Effectiveness & Control :

- Lead the continuing development, implementation and improvement of the processes, structures, capabilities, capacity and infrastructure needed to deliver Management Office Business Management responsibilities

- Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment across the Markets Management Office. together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise

- Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of management information, analysis and reporting framework that supports and informs timely and effective business management and decision making at all levels

Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder's abilities) :

- First off shoring of Markets Front Office roles so strong support and guidance will be required for the business

- A rapidly changing regulatory environment with extensive impacts on the Markets businesses

- A high risk and sensitive set of functions potentially to be off shored so it is critical there is no negative business or client impact

- Increasing focus on business continuity delivery

- Availability of appropriate resources and conflicting priorities across the business

Role Context :

By the end of 2015 the GBM footprint across the GSCs will be over 7000 FTE across 7 centres and 6 countries. The Service Centres will be supporting all business lines within GBM including Markets, HSS and Banking. Within the GBM Service Centre responsibility is also some of the global functions support for the businesses including for example Wholesale and Traded Risk.

The Markets Front Office roles ned to be integrated in to the wider GBM Service Centre structure whilst ensuring appropriate segregation with an effective support structure both within Markets as well as the wider GBM and HOST structures.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications :

- Overall experience of 3-7 years in financial service industry and most recent experience in markets business for a minimum period of 2 years

- Experience in migrating functions will be an asset

- Analytical Skills - proven interpretation and utilisation of management information
