Position: Business Development Manager - Licensing/Out-licensing (Pharmaceuticals)
Location: Mumbai
Position Summary:
- We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our team.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, negotiating, and managing licensing and out-licensing opportunities to drive the growth and expansion of our product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate licensing opportunities with overseas pharmaceutical companies /MNCs for products that have the potential for in-licensing in India
- Negotiate licensing agreements and establish strategic partnerships to acquire rights for marketing and distribution of licensed products in the Indian Pharmaceutical market.
- Conduct financial analysis and modeling to evaluate the financial feasibility and potential return on investment of acquisition targets and licensing agreements
- Develop and execute strategic plans for licensing activities, including market research, competitive analysis, and financial modeling.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with potential partners, including pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, research institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Negotiate licensing agreements, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that align with the company's strategic goals.
- Monitor and manage ongoing licensing relationships, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and addressing any issues that arise.
- Prepare and present detailed business cases and reports to senior management.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes that may impact licensing activities.
- Use market research tools pharmarack,iqvia,cmarc /smsrc for product potential market evaluation
- Excellent MS PowerPoint and Excel skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, PhD) preferred.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in business development, licensing, or related roles within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical development process, including regulatory requirements and market dynamics.
- Proven track record of successfully negotiating and managing licensing agreements.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant business development tools.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with global licensing deals and familiarity with international markets.
- Knowledge of intellectual property and patent law as it relates to the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with financial modeling and valuation
