ROLE DEFINITION FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER:
- Business development, sales and promotion of Planet Explorer's products, focused on direct consumer sales opportunities in India
- Reaching mutually agreed sales performance targets
- Implementing marketing strategies as defined from time to time
- Anticipate market changes and requirements
- Liaise with supplier contacts, existing and new, developing and maintaining relationship and integration opportunities
- Seek competitor information and general market intelligence
Reports to: DOS/COO
Supervises: Sales, Marketing and Business Development Team based in India, as these positions are made available and filled
Location: NCR
Main Activities:
- The sale of PE's products to school and educational institutions
- Product demonstrations to;
Educational institutions
Parents and students
- Product Pricing in conjunction with DOS/COO
- Proposals in conjunction with DOS/COO
- Assist with the preparation of RFP and submission as required
- Maintaining relationship with customers and updating sales leads and client/supplier contact information ongoing
- Responsible for allocated client communications, conflict resolution, and compliance on client deliverables and revenue
- Ensures that client issues are dealt with in an efficient manner, informing the DOS/COO of any problems that may arise
- Communicates the client's goals and represent the client's interests to the team
- Provides regular two-way communication between the client and team, to provide strong team representation and set proper client expectations
- Understanding of company capabilities and service, and effectively communicates all offerings to the client
- Seek competitor information and analyze threats
- Meeting sales performance targets
- Communicate closed sales to Sales and Operations offices for provisioning resources
- Complete new client testimonial statements for marketing requirements
- Targeting and developing relationships with senior management and decision makers at educational institutions
Key Skills:
- Proven sales management skills required in order to grow new business opportunities
- Able to maintain and enhance customer relationships
- Travel industry technical sales experience essential
- Motivated, goal oriented, persistent and a skilled negotiator
- Drive for success and closure of sales
- Base level of technical competence (understand software, hardware, networks, etc.)
- High level of initiative, able to work well both independently and in a team environment
- Commercial document writing capabilities and excellent communication skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Handles stressful situations and deadline pressures well
- Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal direction
- Friendly, outgoing and warm personality
Internal Contacts: Management Team, Finance, Administration, Sales/Marketing Team, Operations Team, Product Development Manager, and Business Analyst,
External Contacts: Educational institutions and potential customers at all levels
Other requirements: At least 3 years travel management experience which incorporates duties and responsibilities directly related to those specified above
Must be available for domestic travel as required, with some international travel too
