Job description
- Business Architect is responsible for creating the Business Architecture which articulates the structure of the of an enterprise or transformational program in terms of its capabilities, governance structure, business processes, and business information. Will also be responsible for the effectiveness, integration and optimization of the business layers within the overall enterprise architecture.
- Will play a pivotal part in the transformation of business processes and the supporting application and Information landscape. Has to work closely with global business executives and global portfolio managers to develop and maintain business architecture, driving global business integration, enhancement and efficiency. Will also be responsible for the development of integrated long term Solution- and Portfolio Roadmaps to ensure minimization of redundant solutions and proper support of the global IT strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be an active participant in a team of senior and highly experienced global Business and Enterprise Architects
- Pursues and builds relationships across business and IT to gather intelligence and bring insight about the wider picture
- Responsible for the development of future state Business and Enterprise Architectures and their related roadmaps, in line with the IT Strategy to drive future state direction of the enterprise
- Responsible for the analysis of existing landscape to determine redundancy and re-architecture opportunities in order to minimize complexity of technology environment in line with business needs of the enterprise.
- Responsible for the development of the domain of expertise, responsible for highly complex projects and programs affecting the business or the entire enterprise.
- Responsible for the analysis of emerging technology, market trends, their potential impacts on the business and information architecture.
- Consult business executives on how to improve globalization and integration of global enterprise business capabilities and information domains.
- Responsible for the creation of relevant and meaningful architecture deliverables for domain of expertise that enables the strategic direction
- Effectively coordinates work with peers and ensures successful delivery
- Recognizes and manages risks in area of responsibility, putting in place appropriate mitigation plans and communicating these to avoid surprises with key stakeholders.
- Act as the voice of authority for topics within remit of own area of specialization.
- Provides informal coaching on-the-job to grow team members.
- Deliver results through others, leveraging the ability to lead through influence
- Display a broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
- Drive various stakeholders with conflicting views to an agreeable solution
- Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
1. Good analytical skills, knowledge of business process and capability design and team player.
2. Strong relationship building skills and executive presence
3. Ability to direct the point of optimization from the project to the enterprise
4. Excellent decision making skills, leverages management for support in the absence of complete facts
5. Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change
6. Good management skills, using judgment and tact.
7. Knowledge of industry standard Enterprise Architecture Frameworks, (e.g. FEA, Zachman, TOGAF, DODAF)
8. Knowledge of ITIL, COBIT, PMBOK, ISO standards, SDLC methodologies etc
9. Strategic skills to propose long-term visions and the ability to translate them into actionable roadmaps that are broadly accepted.
10. Ability to translate business needs into Architecture requirements, and estimate the financial and architectural impact of it.
11. Ability to look at business problems from macro level and drill progressively down to the micro levels.
12. Ability to comprehend the changes to key business processes and the impact on the area of specialization.
13. Ability to understand and integrate cultural differences and motives and to be an active participant in virtual cross-cultural, cross-border teams
14. English language skills - excellent written and verbal communication
15. Ability to work and team with a multitude of different people - including business customers, IT project managers and IT engineers - to balance demands
16. Self starter attitude, working independently under limited guidance
17. Good negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to moderate differing expectations.
