We are seeking a strong candidate with Data Engineering and advanced analytics experience to fill a Knowledge Analyst position within BCG's Advanced Analytics team.
The role provides an opportunity to work on the collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing huge sets of data to deliver value to BCG's case teams through providing analytics subject matter expertise, and accelerated execution support. The primary focus will be on choosing optimal solutions to use for these purposes, then maintaining, implementing, and monitoring these large datasets. You will also be responsible for integrating them with the architecture used across own company and client organizations.
The position collaborates with case teams to gather requirements, specify, design, develop, deliver and support analytic solutions serving client needs. It provides technical support through providing deeper understanding of a problem and processes to formulate high quality and efficient analytic solutions. Assignments will range from answering questions around Data Engineering or analytical methods to working on machine learning cases for specified durations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Rapid business requirement gathering and analysis
- Work with the project stakeholders to identify business needs and gather requirements for data analysis or deployment of already existing tools
- Collaborate with project team members in writing prioritized business requirements documentation, including scope definition and statement of work
Big Data Engineering and solution delivery
- Selecting and integrating any Big Data tools and frameworks required to provide requested capabilities
- Implementing ETL process(s) across on-premise and cloud architectures
- Monitoring performance and advising any necessary infrastructure changes
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education or Certifications
- Bachelor's / Master's degree in computer science engineering/technology
Work Experience
- At least 4-6 years within relevant domain of Data Engineering across industries and work experience providing analytics solutions in a commercial setting
- Consulting experience will be considered a plus
Functional /Technical Skills
Must haves:
- Proficient understanding of distributed computing principles
- Management of Hadoop cluster, with all included services
- Ability to solve ongoing issues with operating the cluster
- Proficiency with Hadoop v2, MapReduce, HDFS
- Understanding of prevalent cloud ecosystems and its associated services AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud. Expertise in at least one.
- Experience with Cloudera / MapR / Hortonworks
- Experience with Spark
- Experience with building stream-processing systems, using solutions such as Storm or Spark- Streaming
- Good knowledge of Big Data querying tools, such as Pig, Hive, and Impala
Good to have:-
- Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources
- Experience with NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB
- Knowledge of various ETL techniques and frameworks, such as Flume
- Experience with various messaging systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Experience with Big Data ML toolkits, such as Mahout, SparkML, or H2O
- Good understanding of Lambda Architecture, along with its advantages and drawbacks
