Job Description:

- 3+ years analytic Solutioning & Consulting experience in verticals such as BFSI, CPG, with atleast 2 years’ experience in delivering analytics on large structured and unstructured data corpuses

- Strong Core Java experience in large scale product development and functional knowledge of RDBMs

- Reasonably well-exposed to programing in the Hadoop ecosystem, and concepts in distributed computing

- Reasonably well-exposed to concepts in Machine Learning & Statistics, esp., in their application to learning from large data sources.

- Proven expertise in deriving insights from large distributed databases.

- Reasonable Exposure to Open Source Text Mining paradigms such as OpenNLP, OpenCalais, StanfordNLP, GATE, UIMA, Lucene

- Reasonable Exposure to Statistical Toolkits such as R, Weka, S-Plus, Matlab, SAS

- Demonstrated ability to Conduct look-ahead client relevant research with focus on supplementing and strengthening the client’s analytics agenda with newer tools and techniques that can better answer business questions.

- Strong written and oral communications skills

- Previous experience with Big Data analytics implementations, using either Vanilla Hadoop or Cloudera/IBM BigInsights

- Reasonable exposure to UI development paradigms that would enable Big Data Insights Visualization

- Ability to Prioritize, Consultative mindset & Time management skills

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Data Scientist (DS) is expected to play a pivotal bridging role between Big Data technology specialists, and business /functional resources. At a broad level, the DS will leverage his/her solutioning expertise to translate the customer’s business need into a techno-analytic problem and appropriately work with the technology specialist to bring large scale analytic solutions to fruition. The right candidate should have prior experience in Consulting and pre-sales.

The key responsibilities of the Big Data Scientist are:

- Provide Strategic Onsite Consulting & Solutioning to customers during their Big Data adoption journey

- Creation of Solution Roadmap and Commitment / Responsibility for implementing the same in conjunction with technology specialists

- Assist the Onsite program manager in providing the right solutioning support to the client as well as work with off-shore team to align such resources to client’s vision and objectives

- Provide Onsite / Offshore solutioning support to BD and presales activities

- Work in conjunction with Presales / BD teams, your program manager, and other stakeholders towards spotting and converting short cycle mining opportunities that may arise from time to time.

- Participate in SME reviews of Big Data opportunities/ engagements

- Jump-start Big Data projects with customer with focus on providing disruptive time-to-insights at a - MS in Computer Science, Information systems, or Computer engineering, Systems Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience

- Or PhD in Computer Science, Computational Science or Engineering with 6+ years of industry experience in Big Data or Parallel / Distributed Computing

- Exposure to Big Data Concepts is a must. Full cycle experience desirable in atleast 1 Big Data project from creating a Business use case, Big Data assessment/roadmap, Technology & Analytic Solutioning, Implementation and Change Management
