The Associate Director, Risk and Resiliency will serve as a Sr. Subject Matter Advisor on Resilience related and risk related engagements which embrace BDO's Risk and Resiliency entrepreneurial approach to integrate industry leading practices, regulatory guidance, with innovative techniques and methodologies, collaboratively building and maturing programs for our clients. In this role, the Associate Director will leverage their expertise in crisis management, business continuity, disaster recovery, cyber response, and third-party risks to influence companies and senior leaders across various industries, creating memorable experiences which improve their ability make risk-informed decisions, manage crises, continue critical business operations and integrate various risk functions. The Associate Director is creative and confident and comfortable facilitating C-suite meetings, trainings, and navigating conflict.
The Associate Director is also accountable for growth and management of a portfolio of accounts, meeting sales targets, while also ensuring projects are executed on time, within budget and delivering innovative and quality products which bring unparalleled value to our clients.
Additionally, the Associate Director is also responsible for organically influencing a team via mentoring, coaching and the professional development of junior staff (Managers and below) and is able to adjust and connect with team members with varying levels of experience.
- Provides clients with strategic guidance (written and verbal) in the disciplines of business continuity, disaster recovery, cyber response, crisis management, and enterprise risk management
- Provides strong leadership, technical guidance, coaching, and support to junior consultants ensuring they are trained on all relevant tools and techniques
- Evaluates the performance of junior consultants and assist in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development
- Exhibits mastery of consulting methodology, materials, tools, and continuity software
- Develops client policies and strategies to assess and mitigate risk associated with business interruption, disaster recovery, cyber-attacks, black swan events and other strategic crises
- Identifies early indicators of maturity in resilience programs and communicates adeptly a plan to clients with confidence
- Easily connects the different domains of resilience - Crisis, BC, DR, Cyber with broader risk initiatives for comprehensive risk and resilience preparedness
- Confidently shares leading practices with senior leaders in the firm, and works closely with US team to bring innovative frameworks and forward-looking methodologies for better client engagement
- Leads the development of business continuity, crisis management, disaster recovery plans, cyber preparedness, and training materials for clients
- Leads the development all aspects of risk and resilience programs - (e.g., strategy, governance, plans, tests and exercises, operating model, and support training and development needs of senior executives
- Develops cross-functional support with HR, Legal, etc. and business units, and product-level crisis and resilience planning, training, and exercises
- Leads development and facilitates business continuity, cyber response, DR, and crisis management exercises to assess potential business impacts, define critical, time-sensitive processes and develop business continuity plans
- Leads development and facilitates business development and thought leadership workshops/presentations to clients and executive stakeholders
- Provides clients with strategic business continuity guidance (written and verbal) in the disciplines of business continuity, crisis management, cyber, DR, and enterprise risk management
- Actively contributes to the development of methodologies and intellectual capital
- Participates in client pitches, and assists the US team to foster new relationships
- Identifies areas of integration with Technology for Resilience with strategic partners
- Other duties may be required, depending on client requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree, required; focus in Business Administration, Risk Management, Technology preferred
- Master's degree (MBA), preferred
Experience:
- Twelve (12) or more years of work experience, required
- Ten (10) or more years of risk management, information technology disaster recovery, business continuity, emergency management or crisis management, required
- Professional client service experience, preferred
- Knowledge regarding strategies to leverage business interruption insurance, preferred
- Knowledge of operational resilience preferred
Licenses/Certifications/Standards:
- DRII, BCI or similar accreditation, preferred
- Fluency in ISO, NIST frameworks preferred
- Awareness of regulations including GDPR, FFIEC, preferred
Software:
- Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required
- Experience with Teams, Zoom, Skype, GoTo Meeting or other web-based meeting applications, preferred
- Experience with SharePoint and familiarity with cloud-based CRM tools, preferred
- Familiarity with risk and/or resiliency software (e.g. Archer, Fusion, Origami, ServiceNow Fairchild, etc...), preferred
