- Monitoring of the crew, both in terms of competence and morale

- Coordinating with the Vessel Managers for monitoring Vessels day to day operations. Monitor & Planning of Vessels Operations, repairs, maintenance, stores / spares supply with Technical Managers for optimising costs and ensure compliance.

- To familiarize with the fundamental operating concepts of the deck and engine equipment onboard the MDPL Vessels, in order to identify any deviation from norms and take measures to ensure efficient operation of same. Monitoring safe standards and effective control onboard by Vessel Managers. Overseeing the same by making periodical inspections of the ships.

- To monitor the monthly operating costs of the vessels and verify that they are within the lines of the budget.

- To monitor major deficiencies and defects on the vessels and ensure that timely corrective actions are taken by the respective Vessel Managers in order that the vessels' performance and safety is not jeopardized.

- To verify all incoming reports from the vessels, identify areas which require immediate attention and take corrective actions. Assimilating and reviewing monthly data / reports from Vessel Managers online Website.

- To review and report on Adherence of Vessel Specific SOP's.

- To ensure that the vessels Classification and Statutory survey status is maintained at all times and oversee that all surveys which are forthcoming are carried out efficiently within the due dates.

- Closely monitor the performance of all vessels and ensure that all Charter Party requirements are being fulfilled. Identify reasons for deviation if any and report to Superiors. Coordinate with Vessel Managers for timely remedial measures.

- In coordination with the Vessel Manager, to carry out planning and budgeting of routine (or otherwise) dry-docking of vessels after making a cost comparison of the various yards. At the same time coordinates the timely arrangement for supply of all spares and stores which may be required during the docking period, thus ensuring that the docking is carried out in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

- To Coordinate on Guarantee Claim's with Shipyard along with Technical Managers.

- To ensure that routine inspection of the vessels is carried out by the respective Vessel Managers and after their return, to verify that proper reports have been prepared and ascertain that all listed shortfalls and deficiencies are followed up and are closed as per laid out procedures.

- To keep abreast with all regulatory requirements and keep the Management appropriately informed

- To maintain a list of copies of all available drawings and manuals of all the vessels ensuring that they are properly stored / indexed and readily available when required.

- To assist in compilation Monthly Technical Report for Management Review Meetings.

- Preparing Budgets and project Owners approved expenses for the Year pertaining to technical items before the yearly budgets are prepared.

- To monitor that all items pertaining to safety and pollution prevention are regularly checked with the aim of achieving high standards of safe and pollution free voyages.

- To carry out Office administrative responsibilities e.g. Local bill checks & Payments, Local Banking etc.

- Budgeting, planning, coordination, execution and supervision of repair-, maintenance, and warranty works.

- Monitoring and reporting costs and lubricating oil consumption associated with the technical management of vessels (bulk carriers and containers).

- Execution of negotiations with suppliers and vendors authorizing purchases of spare parts, services and consumables for the vessel within Technical Managers authority limit.

- Maintaining assigned ships in Class. Monitoring the classification and statutory status of the vessel, advising the Shipmaster accordingly.

- Ensuring compliance with all applicable national and international rules and regulations and the internal requirements of the Company.

- Marine inspection, survey and vetting of vessels - incl. performance and efficiency improvement, evaluation of operations and work processes on board, condition documentation and follow up.

- Providing technical and operational guidance and support to the Shipmaster, as required.
