Sr. manager - FX and Rates
Overall Summary Job Description:
- This is a senior position responsible for leading and managing the overall Macro business that is part of our Markets businesses in the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Front Office enablement business. The India Macro teams support a variety of functions for our global Macro business.
- The incumbent will be responsible for leading all the diverse India Macro businesses including practices like FX Client Advocacy, FX Transaction Services, Macro Analytics and other related teams like Rates etc that are part of the Markets business.
- The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring 100% delivery, good overall outcomes, proactive risk and governance, and strong engagement with senior regional stakeholders in driving growth across the entire value chain of the Macro and Rates businesses.
- The incumbent will lead a group of diverse teams that provide support to Senior Managers on the US FX and Rates desks.
- The incumbent should be proficient in FX and Rates and capital Markets products. Familiarity with various Markets products, understanding product linkage to customers, pitching and analysis for various products and relevance to client groups, familiarity with FX and Rates transactions and oversight, and experience in running and coming up with insightful data analysis and analytics are important asks.
- The role will manage teams across Macro/Markets/Rates including FX advocacy and Transaction services, Business intelligence and data analytics, and other practices that may get added from time to time
- The incumbent should have had a proven track record of leadership and team management, building new business capabilities, and managing senior internal and external stakeholders
- The incumbent will be Lead for the Macro businesses in Markets that is part of the CIB Front Office business, and will work closely with functional counterparts in the US, and with other peer groups that are part of the India Front Office enablement businesses.
The candidate must:
- Be proficient in the FX/macro/Rates products and understand the transaction life cycle. Understand drivers for FX/Rates, have experience in pitching and idea generation for markets products, and be familiar with regulatory and reporting requirements. Experience in overseeing FX transactions an added advantage
- Should have a risk mindset, and proven ability to drive risk and governance environment and metrics
- Be comfortable working in a fast pace and evolving work environment, and be able to develop policies and procedures, best practices, set up a robust organizational structure and proven ability in having created similar businesses in a comparable setup.
- Create efficiencies and effectiveness through process improvements, automation and transformation
- Proven leadership capabilities and should have successfully managed a large team
- Develop requisite reporting & business metrics to monitor and drive the right outcome for the business and LoB stakeholders
- Ensure risk frameworks are designed well and operating effectively
- Provide business management with training, frameworks, information and insights required to manage team and risk
- Drive and motivate the team and establish an outcomes-based culture of high performance, ownership, accountability, transparency and sustained performance
- Drive the team towards continuous process improvements, identifying opportunities for increasing productivity, risk and business outcomes
- The Markets teams in general need to have a high degree of overlap with US desks for US market hours, and the leader will need to ensure presence for maintaining adequate oversight and overlap with the team to cover for US market hours
Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience with a combination of the following: Capital markets, Foreign Exchange, Operations, Investment banking, treasury banking, technology, product management, risk management
- 12 + years of managing team with various skillsets including leading multi-disciplinary teams
- High proficiency in Derivative and Cash products mechanics and risk analysis across asset classes (FX, Rates, & Credit). Transactional experience in FX and Rates products an added advantage
- Business insights tool experience (e.g., Tableau, Power BI etc.)
- MBA or CA or equivalent; Professional degrees like CFA and FRM an added plus
- Strong communication skills and leadership abilities. Proven strategic thinking abilities. Proven track record in setting up new businesses and practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and simple manner
- Will need to ensure adequate managerial oversight over the team for covering US market
Other Desired Qualifications:
- MBA or an advanced degree (or equivalent experience)
- Working with large amount of data from diverse sources
- People-oriented and positive attitude
- Knowledge and understanding of data governance program development and implementation in a large organization across multiple business functions
- Good understanding about Pega, Intellimatch, BSwift and other industry standard applications
- Experience working with senior leaders straddling across Technology, Operations and Strategy in partnership with global teams
