AVP - Senior Financial Accountant - CA - Global Reinsurance Firm

Role : Senior Financial Accountant (AVP Band Level)

Experience : minimum of 5-9+ years of relevant experience

Education : CA Qualified mandatory

Location: Bangalore

About the role :

- Handle regular accounting activities, General Ledger closing and reporting activities for legal entities worldwide using existing systems

- Work with the respective legal entity teams on-site, which will involve stays abroad of up to several weeks per assignment

- Effectively cooperate with the legal entity teams both during on-site stays and subsequently from the home base using modern information sharing and communication tools

- Contribute to building up central expertise in multiple accounting, valuation and reporting standards globally, including supporting documentation and knowledge transfer

- Contribute to on boarding new team members and transferring knowledge as appropriate

- Support programme activities, such as user acceptance testing, cut-over activities, data migration and reconciliations, data preparation and training

- As the legal entities supported will change over time, quickly get familiar with the processes and regulations applicable to the next entity in scope, including local and Group reporting and valuation standards

About the team :

- Finance Reinsurance is undergoing a significant transformation that affects processes, organization and IT systems, such as valuation engines, sub ledgers, general ledgers and the reporting infrastructure.

- At the heart of the programme is the implementation of SAP S/4 HANA Finance as the global General Ledger and Cost Accounting solution.

- Numerous legal entities worldwide will be rolled in to SAP, which will require significant commitment from the existing subject matter experts in the respective legal entity accounting and reporting teams.

- In order to create additional capacity during the roll-in times, we are establishing a pool of financial accountants who will take responsibility for existing activities from subject matter experts so that the regular accounting and reporting activity for the legal entities will continue seamlessly.

- The mandate of the team will evolve over time, in line with the build-up of central know-how within the team and the progress of the legal entity roll-ins and Finance transformation.

Candidate Experience :

- Chartered Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, BS in Accounting or Finance, Master or Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field

- Expertise in international accounting standards preferred (USGAAP)

- Insurance/Reinsurance or other Financial Services knowledge preferred

- 5-9 years, depending on seniority level, of relevant work experience;

- Work experience in auditing with global firms and project environments are strong assets

- Ability to travel globally including stays abroad of up to several weeks

- Strong analytical skills - Results oriented with strong sense of urgency

- Self-starter and ability to work under time pressure and independently

- Knowledge of insurance, reinsurance or financial services is a plus

- Excellent command of English (written and oral)

- Strong ability to learn to handle different accounting systems within short time

- Open minded team player and experience in working in virtual teams, under multiple-reporting lines and with people from different backgrounds and cultures

- Experience in documenting and transferring relevant knowledge to others

- Strong communication and information sharing skills

- Adaptability to changing priorities and working environments

- Absolutely integer and reliable

- Hands-on experience with Oracle or SAP accounting systems are a plus

Ideal Candidate : Candidate(CAs) from an investment banking/insurance/reinsurance background in accounting and reporting having worked on US GAAP statutory reporting.
