- The Assistant Vice President of Human Resources (AVPHR) is an administrative professional position which holds leadership and senior management responsibilities within the Department of Human Resources (HR).
- This position also serves as the administrator for all Human Resources functions and supervises all HR staff.
- The AVPHR is a significant leadership position that demonstrates substantial expertise in human resource management.
- This includes the maintenance of contemporary policy and practices as they relate to the benefit and retirement programs, labor relations, Title IX, recruiting, employment, compensation, state and federal regulations, HRIS, and labor contract administration.
- This position works in partnership with the Office of General Counsel.
- Assess and identify learning and development needs and solutions for specific executive or leadership roles.
- Design leadership development programs and/or supporting development initiatives: develop curriculum, content, tools and processes to build leadership capability in alignment with organizational business objectives.
- Manage specific program development and deployment.
- Work collaboratively with business leaders, including the Vice President of Key Talent Acquisition and the Assistant Vice President of L&OD Program Delivery to ensure program effectiveness.
- Influence and engage leaders and other key stakeholders to actively participate in program development and facilitation.
- Identify, evaluate and leverage various program development and delivery methods to achieve learning objectives.
- Research and recommend leadership development best practices, instructional resources and technologies to support teaching and learning.
- Work collaboratively with Director of Executive Leadership Development to identify and develop leaders and subject matter experts to deliver training.
- Monitor and regularly assess the quality and effectiveness of training/program delivery, and provide coaching and feedback to ensure consistent effective performance.
- Identify and implement support systems to ensure that knowledge and skills are truly embedded and employed as a result of development activity.
- Ensure effective utilization of resources (materials, budgets, vendors, and people).
- Measure program effectiveness by reviewing quantitative and qualitative data and comparing results against expected performance objectives.
