As an AVP Engineering, you are an influential and versatile leader with a keen eye for customer experience.

- You- d be instrumental in hiring and mentoring engineers but you aren- t afraid to dive into code as you prefer to work alongside your team and lead by example.

- It's imperative that you- re comfortable designing fullstack i.e. end-to-end familiarity up and down the stack while promoting clean coding principles (DRY, KISS, SOLID etc). Most importantly, you thrive on helping companies grow and feed off a fast-paced startup environment.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR :

- Previous experience in managing and providing technical leadership to engineering teams

- Previous fullstack experience in both dynamically and statically typed languages- we primarily use Python, Java and NodeJS, but members of our team have backgrounds in a wide range of technologies

- Proven ability in architecture and building scalable systems and teams

- Experience with system monitoring and alerting for availability and performance. We try and keep Pageload under 4s for all the customer properties.

- An eye for the right talent, and experience in recruiting and hiring a team

- 8+ years related engineering experience, 4+ years in a leadership role

WHAT YOU'LL DO :

- Facilitate tight and compassionate collaboration between our Search - n- Discovery, Mobile, Portal, Revenue - n- Growth and DevOps/Security teams.

- Lead and manage an effective engineering function to support productive development and quality of life for the development team

- Engage in 1 on 1s with development team members to understand their goals, concerns, struggles, and accomplishments.

- Join pairs and groups of developers working on features to provide guidance and feedback

- Work with other engineering leads to define infrastructure needs and make architectural decisions

- Build a development dream-team, including recruiting, hiring, mentoring and performance management

- Work closely with the company leaders including the technical founder, product, operations, and Customer Care to strategically build the platform

- Our ideal candidate is hands-on and heart-open; meeting everyone with compassion and respect regardless of experience level while being willing to dive in and provide direct guidance and feedback on effective software design and development techniques.
