About Fundamental Credit Research
The Fundamental Credit Research team is responsible for analyzing the credit strength of investment grade, high yield, securitized corporate bond issuers. Based on this analysis, the team writes independent, trade ideas focused and thematic research which is distributed to external clients as well as internal business partners. Strong communication skills are required given the high level of interaction with a wide variety of clients (asset managers, pension funds, hedge funds), internal sales and trading, corporates, as well as investment banking .
Overall purpose of role
The primary responsibility is to assist the APAC Credit Research analysts in all aspects of the job requirements. While the person will focus on Indian credits, there is also a requirement to work with other APAC credit reports/tasks.
Key Accountabilities
The main duties of the job will be composed of the following:
- Evaluate financial documentation including annual/quarterly reports, current events and debt covenant packages, with the aim of providing fundamentally sound recommendations on outstand bonds and loans
- Maintain financial models (including updating of financial models as and when results are released), relative value spreadsheets and investor presentations
- Attend /participate on corporate (earnings and adhoc) calls and to take details notes from calls for possibly publication.
- Assist in writing initial drafts of research reports (at later stage), focused on corporate debt issuers within the specified market segment, as well as broader team initiatives
- Collect and monitor sector data of various industries, and understand the direction of market trends
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
A successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. The role requires a high level of communication with across the research department (equities, other regional teams).
Decision-making and Problem Solving
This role will involve substantial financial analysis, so the candidate would benefit from a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

Person Specification
- CA or MBA from a reputed institute
- CFA / FRM or relevant degree preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong analytical problem solving ability
- Organized, superior attention to detail
- Highly motivated
- Strategic thinker
- Ability to operate in a dynamic environment
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of Bonds / Fixed income products
- Good writing skills
- Relevant credit/ equity research/ credit appraisal experience of minimum 2 years (preferred but not mandatory)
- Preferred someone who has looked at high yield products and has exposure to sectors like Airports, metals (steel and non-steel) and renewables will be an added advantage
