Summary of role:
Collateral Management's principal function is risk mitigation, covering currency, equity, rates and credit derivatives products. The Collateral Team's primary role is to aggregate and manage the bank's exposure across its entire collateralized portfolio.
- The group is tasked with minimizing counterparty credit exposure via the use of collateralization, acting on margin terms which are dictated in the various margin agreements, while providing superior client service to the counterparts.
- Margin Management, New business onboarding into Margining systems, Asset movements between systems, Disputes Resolution and Portfolio Reconciliations are the key functions performed within the Global Collateral Management group.
Duties will include:
- The individual will take an active role in working with relevant internal teams to ensure that the firm's exposure to its clients and counterparties are properly monitored on a daily basis
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal upstream and downstream teams and external clients.
- Coordinate with areas such as Trading, Product control, Credit, Static team to resolve escalated customer inquiries and disputes
- Consistently seek opportunities to improve processes, controls and procedures within the Collateral Management team.
- Partner with the project team to develop requirements for system enhancements and assist with user acceptance testing.
- In line with the department's needs to ensure that the processes it employs are efficient and streamlined, the candidate will need to identify tasks that can be automated or organized in a more efficient way - some Green Belt training and or Process Improvement experience is an advantage
- Ensures the escalation of operational, regulatory and other risks to line manager and functional leads as appropriate; contributes to the development and implementation of mitigation / control solutions.
- Actively supports the COO strategy; plans and values, contributing to the achievement of a high performance culture. Personally contributes in an environment where people development is number one priority.
Experience / Exposure:
Industry Experience:
- Candidate will have 9+ years experience in financial services
Functional Competencies:
- Working knowledge in Collateral Management
- Understanding of ISDA / CSA, Margining concepts (Directly with clients / through clearing platforms)
- Candidates must have deep understanding of the lifecycle of Derivative trades, [processing, settlement, and confirmation] and be able to work with clients and customer service team on operational and margining issues.
- Candidate should also understand the complexities of derivatives pricing and counterparty risk.
- Knowledge of US and European financial regulations - EMIR, Dodd Frank, MiFID etc
- Product and system knowledge in one of the technical areas
- Ability to articulate complex issues/ideas to all levels of management in a highly professional and understandable and timely manner
- Ability to work with virtual teams and matrix organizations
- Ability to work in fast paced environment, keep pace with technical and innovation and maintain a broad understanding of the organization
- Analytical skills with high focus on problem solving.
Education: Finance/accounting graduate, with either professional certifications (CPA, CFA, CA) or MBA/master's degree with a concentration in finance or accounting
