Overall purpose of role

The main function of the role is to be a Business Analyst role in the Credit Risk Business Analysts team.

The primary focus for 2017 will be on the Structural Reform initiative. The project is a regulatory initiative to review and enhance the bank's existing Credit Risk Probability of Default, Loss Given Default and Exposure at Default models. The project is seeking to align capital permissions across the non-ring fenced bank portfolio, covering the full lifecycle including model development and testing, model implementation onto the strategic infrastructure, internal model validation and approval, and seeking permission to use the advanced models for capital treatment.


Key Accountabilities

Liaise with Business and other Technology teams across Barclays to investigate and understand upstream requirements. Specifically:

- Change Analysis for Upstream Changes

- Perform Business impact analysis for changes for Credit exposures (PFE, EEPE) and RWAs impact

- Work closely with Stakeholders like CRIS Input and Output controllers, CRM, with Project Managers, Risk IT, Business Analysts and Quantitative Analytics

- Preparation of test artefacts - Project Inception Summary, Test Plan, Test Results & Analysis, Pre and Post Go Live Notifications

- Work closely with the Business to gain their buy-in to the testing and to effectively manage the end to end testing process and sign off

- Ability to work independently and to tight deadlines.

- Provide guidance to other members of the team and mentor team members to ensure they are delivering to their best where needed

Skills and Knowledge :

- Financial Services industry experience.

- Ability to use own initiative to resolve issues/ investigate and find solutions.

- Excellent written skills including solid experience writing project documentation such as Business Requirements (BRD) and Functional Specifications (FS).

- Excellent verbal skills for conveying potentially technical concepts into understandable conversation with project stakeholders/sponsor.

- Experience of communicating with a wide array of people and some experience of stakeholder management.

- Adept at using Microsoft Office products with some experience using other relevant software packages.

- Ability to provide analysis in a clear manner.

- Experience in delivering projects using the agile methodology.

Person Specification :

- Experienced Business Analyst, with exposure to user acceptance and regression testing. Candidate will be expected to undertake detailed risk impact analysis of the proposed change and advise sponsor/stakeholders of any additional recommendations, unexpected challenges, or alternative avenues to resolution.

- Strong analytical skills, Methodical approach with good attention to detail.

- Experience working on projects and change implementation

- Investment banking experience

- Understanding of Risk (Credit & Market), including a basic understanding of Monte Carlo and Historical Simulation techniques used to calculate Value at Risk. Should have good understanding of the drivers of Credit risk, Exposure, and Sensitivity measures such as - the Greeks- .

- Understanding of product valuation and mark to market concepts

- Understanding of the Business Processes associated with Risk Reporting or sanctioning activities

- Analytical mind with strong attention to detail and meticulous approach to testing and documentation (any qualification in this area would be added benefit)

- Ability to think independently, escalate appropriately and to challenge things that appear wrong or don- t work during the testing

- Escalate issues or road blocks to line management and be a key contributor to any important decision making.

- A flexible attitude and team player
