About Strategic Philanthropy Team

Philanthropy has been on the upswing in India over the past five years. Individuals, private foundations, and corporates are increasingly recognizing the need to play a catalytic role in accelerating the pace of development in India. As per Bain India Philanthropy Report 2017, private donations made up 32% of total contributions to the development sector in 2016, up from a mere 15% in 2011.

Given the increase in philanthropic giving in India, Arthan's partner organisation launched the Strategic Philanthropy Business Unit in 2016 with the goal of helping unlock INR 500+ crores of annual Indian giving over the coming 3-5 years. This platform offers customized support to ultra-high net worth individuals, high-net-worth individuals and select corporates through thought leadership events, philanthropy education programs, sector research, NGO due diligence, and family foundation office support. Built as a core team which draws on the skills and products of the entire organization, the organisation acts as a trusted advisor for philanthropists at each stage of their journey, enabling them to play a critical and active role in India's development.

- To ensure that we support donors in the most effective and efficient manner, the Strategic Philanthropy team is divided into the following four verticals - with each vertical playing a specific role in the overall donor journey:

- Outreach: Reaches out to various types of donors across geographies, cultivates relationships with nodal entities to access prospective donors and enables donors to understand sector needs and gaps they would like to address through their philanthropy.

- Donor Education Programs: Curates and facilitates structured learning platforms to build the capacities of philanthropists, foundations, and corporates in a one to many formats.

- Donor Management: Leverages in-house knowledge and products to provide dedicated and customized support on identified needs of donors and manages the donor relationships on an end-to-end basis.

- Donor Reporting: Generates insights to drive high-quality decision making, manages institutional funders for the team and provides key partners with the relevant updates.
