Position Summary:
The Communications Leader is a critical leadership role within the Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) Communications and Engagement (CE) team. The leader will team closely with company leaders to develop relevant, integrated communications that deepen our people's understanding of the firm's increasing use of shared services and talent hubs as part of its commitment to globalization.
This role will be accountable for the design and delivery of communications strategy and implementation plans, internally and externally; drive proper positioning and visibility of Global Shared Services (GSS)/Talent Hubs with all relevant stakeholder groups; and bring together into one team the existing communications teams that support the GSS and Talent Hub organizations.
The role will work with the leaders to implement and manage an effective stakeholder communications plan. This role will focus on external and change management communications support while leading and managing the team and developing team members through effective coaching and mentoring.
The role works closely with other communications leaders across Business Enablement Communications and the wider Communications and Engagement team.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Build trusted advisor status with GSS and Talent Hub leaders; work with respective core leadership teams, helping and coaching them to play an active role in carrying out the firm's communications agenda
- Working with the other Communications and Engagement leaders, help to develop an integrated business enablement and change communications strategy to ensure that communications are an integral part of CE activities and messages to our people and Partners
- Undertake communications account management activities within the function
- Create and deliver the communications strategy and plan for the function
- Develop and manage the stakeholder plan for Talent Hub and GSS functions, ensuring that the value proposition is effectively shared with our clients; implement change strategies based on stakeholder feedback
- Manage and drive communications strategies for all GSS/Talent Hub employee engagement activities; ensure integrated and effective communications through a storytelling approach
- Oversee and manage the combined Talent Hub and GSS communications team; ensure that individuals within the team understand and embrace the change and work effectively together
- Manage the budget for the communications team and programs
- Work as a senior leader in the Business Enablement BMC team
- Oversee all communications activities and provide line management support to GSDC communications resources
- Proactively offer high-level communications support to GSS and Talent Hub leaders
- Coach GSS and Talent Hub leaders, improve their communications skills, and align leaders behind the key messages and the value proposition
- Work with the Business Enablement Communications Leader and deliver on the Business Enablement communications plan and priorities for all GSS and Talent Hub customers and stakeholders
- Create efficiencies through standardization of processes via merging the two existing communications teams
- Recognize the importance of and develop relationships with appropriate BMC leaders and other communicators, especially across the service lines and Markets organizations
- Understand key functional priorities and ensure that the strategic communications plan is aligned to assist in their delivery; be able to advise on the most effective communication methods
- Develop and execute an external stakeholder management plan, including audience recognition and appropriate communication methods
- Develop messaging to support planned growth of GSS/Talent Hub
- Develop plans for communicating across shared services centers, including all Talent/People requirements
- Demonstrate that all major strategic priorities across the GSS and Talent Hub organizations are being supported with the appropriate levels of depth and frequency of communications
- Provide meaningful, consistent and timely communications on GSS and Talent Hub to all clients and stakeholders, including governance groups, Executive and Region leadership, Partners and others across the firm
- Proactively champion the importance of effective communication across the GSS and Talent Hub function
- Act as the main point of escalation for any client queries relating to communications
- Keep up to date with industry standards, communications tools and techniques
- Assist in the creation of an effective team environment, ensuring that best practices are actively shared and an open, dynamic and fun environment is created
- Develop BMC team members, ensuring that appropriate learning and development opportunities are provided

- Demonstrate an excellent understanding of GSS and Talent Hub strategies and value propositions
- Demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to establish and refine the strategies that drive brand as well as organizational performance and add value to the business
- Display an understanding of communicating across different cultures, languages and time zones
- Be comfortable with working in a virtual environment
Supervision Responsibilities:
- Manages the communications team
Other Requirements:
- A willingness to travel as the job requires
Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree/MBA or equivalent experience
- 8 to 12 years of experience in a senior communications role for a global organization and/or complex organization
- Experience working effectively in a cross-cultural/cross-time zone environment for multiple stakeholders and audiences
- Experience executing communications within major change/transformation programs
- Experience working within a large professional services organization would be an advantage, but is not essential
- Experience working in a (captive) shared services environment desirable
- Experience leading and managing sizable communications teams
