Assistant Vice President - Technology Risk - BFS

Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a seasoned risk advisory professional with a strong background in managing risk within complex technological landscapes. This role involves direct interaction with senior stakeholders and plays a critical part in maintaining the organization's risk and control integrity.

This position offers a unique opportunity to influence technology risk strategy within a major financial services organization.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

- Lead comprehensive assessments of risk across various technological domains, ensuring potential exposures are identified and effectively managed.

- Regularly update and enhance existing risk profiles or develop new profiles aligned with evolving business functions.

- Prepare in-depth risk documentation, capturing the broader risk ecosystem including controls, incidents, asset integrity and exception handling.

- Apply expertise in IT frameworks such as Asset Lifecycle Management, ITIL operations and industry standards around cybersecurity, data protection and resilience.

- Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership, offering clear guidance on the risk posture and control framework.

- Evaluate the effectiveness of control measures and articulate their impact on the overall risk landscape.

- Review and assess technology changes before deployment to ensure appropriate controls are in place, risk levels are accurately classified and required approvals are obtained.

To be eligible for this role you will require:

- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in Technology risk management.

- Proven experience in risk management within a technology or IT-driven environment.

- Demonstrated ability to author high-quality risk reports and engage effectively with senior business stakeholders.

- Familiarity with ITIL, cyber resilience, and data privacy frameworks.

- Skilled in providing consultative risk guidance to leadership and interpreting complex control environments.

- Solid understanding of asset management in a tech infrastructure context.

- Experience reviewing technology change processes, assessing control coverage and facilitating risk ownership.
