Job Description :
The Information Analytics Service unit supports Swiss Re's business functions in generating insight from structured and unstructured data for their business and strategic initiatives (e.g., Big Data & Smart Analytics and growth programs). A team of professionals in text, data and visual analytics provide services in three key areas:
- Defining the business question to be answered with appropriate analytics models
- Identifying and preparing the relevant information/data sources for analysis, and validating analytics scenarios by means of functional prototypes or pilot solutions.
The Opportunity :
To extend the existing Analytics Team we are seeking a Data Scientist who will contribute in accelerating the deployment and improvement of Analytical Services in tight cooperation with peers, internal experts and business clients.In particular, the role will involve:
- Generating business insight using data analytics and information visualization methods to answer business problems in different Insurance domains.
- Designing and developing analytics solutions to move towards data-driven innovation in alignment with business priorities and key targets.
- Driving enhancements of analytics products and services to improve business value and service quality according to business needs and industry best practices.
The ideal candidate has a background in computer science/engineering, computational linguistics or information science and possesses working experience in at least one (and ideally a combination) of the following domains: data & text mining, machine learning and information visualization.
Key Tasks :
- Contribute in an agile team of data scientists to develop data-driven solutions for various Insurance and Reinsurance business problems (i.e., ad-hoc analysis request as well as business projects).
- Establish a data ecosystem to manage pools of internal and external data, drive the adoption, utilization and continuous improvement of new analytical methodologies to generate business insight.
- Apply analytical methods and algorithms to build data products that streamline the process from data collection to insight generation.
- Validate, interpret and present data findings to both an expert and non-expert audience.
- Standardize analytical processes and workflows to streamline service provision as well as further develop Swiss Re's Analytics Suite.
- Ensure further development of Swiss Re's Analytics Suite in interplay with system engineers, solution architects and internal business experts.
- Foster new data-driven approaches to generate business insight in order to address unanswered business problems in a proactive way.
- Build-up sustainable relationship with key business and IT stakeholders to become a trusted partner for the field of data analytics.
About You About us :
Essentials :
- Master Study or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline: e.g., statistical, applied mathematics, physics, operations research, computer science or computer engineering.
- 6+ years of experience in relevant areas of advanced analytics.
- Strong analytical & conceptual skills to understand key business needs and design tailored solutions to solve specific business problems.
- Ability to translate business problems into information & mining questions and communicate complex analysis results in a clear, precise and actionable manner.
- Expert knowledge in a combination of analytic, scripting and visualization tools for the integrated analysis of transaction, text, speech and behavioural data.
- Proven track-record in implementing business solutions in the area of information retrieval, natural language processing/text mining, data analytics and information visualization.
- In-depth experience with statistical computing languages such as R, Matlab, SAS, SPSS.
- Fluency with at least one programming language such as Python, Java.
- Proficiency in relational databases/SQL.
- Excellent verbal and written English skills, ideally multi-lingual.
